The BBC and ITV seemed to have no reservations about reporting the possibility that it might be some sort of Anders Brevik style right wing attack, PP, so your faith in those organisations' journalistic integrity is rather misplaced. When a host of American news channels report an eyewitness account of the killer shouting allahu Akbar, I find it very worrying that British and European stations do not at least mention it.

Eye witness accounts are notoriously unreliable PM. Journalistic standards demand that they are corroborated multiple times from different sources.
We had the same thing when that MP was shot and there were conflicting reports that she was intervening in a fight etc. Still waiting for Ib to explain where I defended the loon ball by the way. Tick tock. Hope he's not run off to hide. |
By:
Surely you are defending the loon when you dont have access to all of the facts, or do have double standards ?
By:
dual nationality? who said he was isis? Did I? Do please refrain from the personal insults.
By:
ps I am sorry to say, but journalistic standards go out of the window these days as the news media have their own agendas.
By:
but as I am not old enough to be on here I am not equipped to have an opinion
By:
Ib - what does that even mean? Do you know what defending even means? Go and look it up. Jesus. Hopeless.
By:
German-iranian. the clue is in the name.
Go on then, enlighten me. What is the clue referring to? |
By:
I haven't heard his name mentioned yet on mainstream media, but the names of Ali and David have been put forward on this thread. Is either of these correct do we know for certain yet?
By:
we know very little and you can rely on the police/politicoes to put out their VERSION. Has this happened before - cough cough!
By:
sorry porki I am not old enough to reply

By:
Police have only released "David S" so far.

off you scuttle, mobe

Here's one of the UK media's latest attempts at naming him. Maybe his parents were Bowie fans?

shame that your best is to make personal insults - you join a long queue of people that have done it
By:
a local MUSLIM witness has said what he shouted - hope this helps porki - but I am not old enough to debate with such brilliant minds as your self
Iranian with dual nationality shouting Ali Ba ba ha ha - the clue is in the Name |
By:
shame you're too scared to try and explain your post.
By:
I just have. but as I am not old enough my replies are invalid.
Check out what muslims have said - not us racist honkeys |
By:
what on earth do you mean by scared ? How would you know if I was scared. Is it just innuendo and personal insults you deal in or what?
By:
Good afternoon, Al. Hope you are well, sir.
If his name is indeed Ali David Sonboly but the authorities released his name as just David S how can one not reasonably assume they are trying to downplay the Islam angle? Not reporting the allahu Akbar allegations of an eyewitness whilst continually reporting conjecture about an Anders Brevik style mass murder is blatant bias. |
By:
but you are too young to come on here and say that poker!!!! such a silly juvenile thing to say
I mean it was only a muslim witness that said that - how can you believe them (tongue in cheek) |
By:
is pinneapple a teenager ?
Doesnt seem to be able to hold a conversation without throwing personal insults, all very bizarre. |
By:
Has it been confirmed/corroborated that he shouted that? That's the point. Supposed eye witness statements are notoriously unreliable. There is a high number made by people who weren't actually witnesses at all but want their 15 minutes, who will themselves make conclusions as to the attacker, want to mould the story or are just plain panicked when a microphone's shoved in their face.
So there is a witness statement that has (I believe) not been corroborated and the fact that (I believe, as I think he was born in Germany) at least one of his parents is Iranian and people are jumping to the conclusion that it was ISIS or similar and upset that the BBC wasn't reporting this. No, they wait. And, lo and behold it turns out (at least at this stage) that there was no link to them at all. See the below (first thing that google hit) The problem with eyewitnesses The aftermath of the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes at Stockwell Tube station has shown that eyewitness testimony may not always be as reliable as it seems. On the day Mr Menezes was killed, a picture was quickly painted by eyewitnesses of a suspect who had vaulted over a ticket barrier, ran away from police, and had worn a bulky jacket that could have concealed a device. |

Why are men in different European countries shouting 'Allahu Akbar' just before maiming and massacring innocent bystanders and occupants of railway carriages?
We've had four major, globally-reported, instances of this in Europe in just over a week. The seafront at Nice, an Alpine village near Montpelier, on a Bavarian railway carriage, and now the beautiful city of Munich. What's the connection for these atrocities? It can't be a coincidence surely? Three of the attackers even had the same first name (or variation thereof). Has Europol joined the dots yet? |
By:
PP can be a tad prickly at times. Just remember.. we have more that unites us than divides us!

Maybe he just went by David and Ali was a birth name he never used in actual life. |
By:
now we are off to stockwell - is that near munich? I am not old enough to no my gee ogg raphee
By:
Yes, I understand that, PP. And it would all be very reasonable if it wasn't for that fact that they were quite content to indulge in continual conjecture about him being a right wing Anders Brevik II. Don't you see the double standards there, sir?
By:
Good afternoon Pokermonster. There certainly seems to be a concerted effort going on to downplay the background of the killer. The German Police have form for looking the other way when inconvenient crimes take place, as at last New Year's Eve, particularly in Cologne. The liberal press naturally not far behind.
By:
I can see that poker, though I didn't hear that personally when watching the box. What was the link to him being right wing btw? What led them to believe that rather than ISIS or a lone nutjob, both of which must have been far more plausible.
There must have been something that would lead them to such an assumption. |
By:
defenders of the faith know too well how the diversion tactic works.
I am off to Marwell now Those two knife weilding dark guys could actually have been students(with suntans) who have been on holiday in their camper. They were sharpening their pencils to write more of their dissertations when a nasty warmongering RAF thug abused them I know these things |
By:
It seems the tin hat brigade are back. If the angle isn't the one you're hoping for, just accuse "The Man" of fabricating it all to hide the truth.
By:
porki I wouldn't know - I am not old enough
By:
Indeed, Alun.
Given recent events, is it unreasonable to want to know if this murderer was Muslim or not? I, for one, am not afraid to be explicit about it. The evil, backward ideology that is Islam is a cancer to wester civilisation. |
By:
Was he known as Del boy to his friends ?
By:
PP.
What led them to that assumption was 1) He looked white. 2) It was the anniversary of Brevik. And 3) They are in complete denial about the cancerous ideology of Islam. |
By:
Yes I didn't hear the BBC mention alluhah akbar last night but they did say several times this could be a far-right attack. There was nothing pointing to that in addition to being a highly unlikely target for such groups.
