The different accounts being reported here and in America is bizarre.
I've just been chatting with my friend in Texas and, based on what he has seen on their news channels, he is convinced Islamic jihadists are to blame; several witnesses have been quoted as saying the gunmen indiscriminately shot folks whilst shouting "alluha Akbar" over and over again. He also said that the rooftop man did not rant against Turks (as reported on Sky News) but said that he himself was a German-born Turk. Three men of middle eastern appearance were shown being stripped and arrested in handcuffs. Compare this to what I have been watching on Sky and BBC, where everything seems to point to some sort of right-wing extremist in an anti-muslim attack. How can the same event be reported so differently? |

18 yo German/Iranian? Looked older to me, but I guess you can't tell from shaky footage. Very sad to hear that young girl who turned and ran, may be dead (I hope not). Never seen so much misinformation persisting for so long after an incident, though! All this stuff about "3 attackers, still at large" etc Why was this erroneous account left unchallenged for so long?

The Guardian are finally reporting that the gunman allegedly shouted "allah Akbar" about 12 hours after CNN first reported it...
"CNN spoke to a woman, named only as a Loretta, who said she witnessed the shooting as she hid in a store next door to the McDonalds. She said her eight-year-old son witnessed the shooter loading his weapon in the men’s toilets in McDonalds. She said: I come out of the toilet and I hear like an alarm, boom, boom, boom. He’s killing the children. The children were sitting to eat. They can’t run. She also said the man yelled: ‘Allahu Akbar’ She said she recognised this phrase as she herself is Muslim from Kosovo, according to CNN." |

To the best of my knowledge, neither Sky News or the BBC has yet mentioned the alluha Akbar reports, despite it being all over American news channels. One can only assume that they have been ordered not to mention it, which is a serious worry in itself.

i think a lot of these types of killings seem to follow a pattern , males 18-35 , personal difficulties , withdrawal from reality, anger then mixed sometimes with drink and drugs , guns and then killing sprees shows a disintegration of peoples lives and then some kind of barbaric deluded calling resulting in such despicable violence and murder.

The suspected killer named online by multiple media sources as ALI SONBOLY, 18.
He is further described as a GERMAN-IRANIAN, whatever that is (I've never heard of the German-Iranian team in any sport) and is said to be a Lone Wolf Gunman. Quite a coincidence this. For the fourth time in just over a week, he is an example of an alleged "Lone Wolf" terrorist who shouts "Allahu Akbar" before going on to slaughter or maim his innocent victims, so maybe he was not alone in this world after all. |

Sorry to disappoint those desperate to link it to Isis and whatnot but police are saying no connections to them at his home. Perp had been having psychiatric treatment and had been researching shooting sprees.
Maybe one reason the BBC and ITV haven't jumped to conclusions before now is because they have a higher editorial standard and wait for facts (or at least a few confirmations of a report) before then reporting it. |
