Seemed a reasonable question to me. Anyway I am delighted to hear that all the £350 million we give to the EU will instead go the NHS.

OP seemed to pose a reasonable question to me. But it has been answered. It was untrue. So people just have to forget about it (its a different, and very serious, question how both sides could freely peddle gross misinformation).

Its clear UK Govt / Leave campaigners don't know what happens next - especially Farage!, and of course the UK immediately has made shapes at stalling - understandably to calm things down. Uk may be thinking we will leave when we are ready - but this is a very problematic.

I stated this on another thread, based on my own experience yesterday...

I work for a large US Financial Company/Bank. Mail straight away yesterday morning. Paragraph 1 - assuring all staff of commitment to UK. But then Paragraph 2 - as they are a EU legal entity (as most of big US firms in Europe are) - some roles will have to move, this will be detailed by end of July and timeframes in place. Typical US company - bang! just like that, no messing about. Cash is king.

Not even waiting for the actual exit in 2-3-4 years time.




Business and markets will want certainty and clarity - the pressure will build from business and industry, as well as a "pissed-off" EU, as well as staunch Leave campaigners. Very difficult balancing act - never mind the internal pressures from Scotland, N.Ireland

The only thing I don't get (but could be wrong) - is it allowable that the other 27 countries are meeting and excluding UK? UK hasn't even applied to leave yet. Just wondering

Sadly the youth dont have any connection in being British.

The world changes and society changes. Youth today have a far more global outlook, are less xenophobic, welcome outsiders, and want to visit, enjoy and explore other countries and cultures. When I was a child in the fifties, we had one child in the entire school (about 300 kids) who wasn't from Britain or Ireland. At secondary school (about 500) there were three including a german lad who - with our impish liverpudlian wit - we nicknamed "Hitler". Things have changed.

This can be hard for us older people to cope with.

However, the elderly (and the unemployed and white van men) haven't got much better to do on a Thursday than vote - and differential turnout is what has swung it.

We are making ourselves feel good by f..king up the lives of our kids and grandkids, telling ourselves that it is for their good in the long tem. Being British is different from what it was when we were younger.

If this exit is not handled well, it will lead to what you want - net migration. Unfortunately, this may be achieved by many of our children and grandchildren leaving the UK. My kids and their friends are searching for birth certificates that demonstrate that they are entitled to an Irish passport. Don't think it is not a risk - over the years, many other countries (France, Ireland, Venezuela, Argentina, Germany... ) have - at times - lost a major part of their most mobile youth.

I would like to keep in contact with my kids and grandkids and currently they - like most of their fellows - can't understand why we have done this.

Dont you understand that the luxury of your (& mine) kids was provided by the uk being a superb democratic country and the parents having spare money ? (unless you think different then the conversation is pointless)

I do understand that and I respect that view, as I respect the outcome of the referendum. My problem is that it has been achieved by a campaign of staggering lies (£350 million is the icing on the cake) and emotion aimed at a profile who are much more likely to vote, and who just sneaked home.

My kids are comfortable - it is me who lives in luxury, funded by student grants, interest on mortgage tax relief, inflated house values produced by planning constraints, "triple-locked" pensions, pensioner bonds, free prescriptions, bus passes, additional tax allowances for dividends and interest, while we leave our kids a mountain of debt.

As I said, if this exit is not handled well, it will lead to what you want - net migration - and many of us (maybe even you) may lose contact with our kids and grandkids.

Clearly i didnt think the 350m bit being a vote winner, im doubtful that the public thought that also as that little money would always end up in managers and agencies, well i hope they realise that.

My kids are all for europe.

But they had an upbringing of never celebrating being british, i could go into detail why this is, but i think you would call me a lunatic.

My lickle daughter posted earlier that the people that not long to live are ****s.
Irony of it all, is that daughter has moved up because of her grandparents and parents, it seems they all want it on a plate.

My daughter (in the final year of primary school) told me she would vote out after argyuments from both sides were discussed at school.

I hadn't mentioned Brexit or which way I was likely to vote.

They don't seem to be in any rush to repatriate that money and give it to the nhs. That's assuming that that money will be saved with no costs suffered anywhere else. And that's a big assumption to make.
