JC - the AR 15 can fire 800 rounds a minute. That's a lot of deaths in a short space of time. The gunman can kill at great range meaning he can't be challenged.
A man with a handgun can be jumped. Very hard to do but possible. |

Injera I wasn't arguing about that. 800 a minute is a silly figure though. AR 15 is a civiliany name for the M16 type gun we're all familiar with that their army use.
My main point was that some might thing "not automatic" means have to reload each shot manually. No, it means just that you have to pull the trigger between shots. |

Agreed about the 800 a minute being the top end. It's been confirmed though that this fella used an AR 15 and a handgun (6 chambers?) I think we know which one did the damage. Over 50 injured injured too.  |

I actually do hate to make this political and sound like one of the forum nutters but I'd be surprised if we don't see this sort of thing again in Europe by end of this year again as well, thanks to Merkel it's full of nutters and access to arms there is easy. Why can't people just be nice : |

SA80, M16 etc only have a 30ish round clip If someone used a .50 cal machine gun they could easily kill hundreds of people if they targeted a crowded area |

So, if a radicalised nutter can get a gun and kill 50 people in a gay nighclub. Then presumably another one could just as easily kill 50 rednecks or straight, white people with a similar weapon. i wonder if the gun lobby will be quite so happy at the proliferation of weapons, if they start becomng the targets. I don't suppose IS have any more regard for bible belt whites than they have for gays.

Police forces across the world need to rethink their policy when he comes to hostage scenario's.
Should they be waiting outside trying to negotiate or storming the gaff straight away? As the time period seemed to of been between 2am and 5am.....similar with the nighclub in Paris.....I'm confident it'll save more lives going straight in instead of messing about. |

The shooter was known to the FBI and had been interviewed over the last few years regarding terrorist comments and possible connections to a certain suicide bomber.

Hamsterdam, they will be dammed if they do and dammed if they don't, it's an incredibly difficult decision to have to make, but I have to agree with your comments as negotiating time just allows more killing time. I understand that some time is/must be spent getting as much intel as possible to protect themselves when they do go in.
