It has been remarked often that chit chat is not what it was.
The poker forum has currently one person viewing the forum, probably a moderator or betfair
It has had roughly about twenty posts in about five months! That is posts, not threads even. I used to sometimes enjoy the poker forum and is was the source of good advice. I would like some advice again. There are several posters on chit chat who, like me, play poker and used to post on the poker forum. I will probably at some stage post poker threads on here, but it would be nice if it was renamed, if chit chatters agree.
The politics thread again has about 4 viewing the forum. This forum is better supported, but as chit chat has a lot of politics threads it would make sense to combine it with chit chat.

I do try to ignore him, Aspro, but when he calls posters who believe in me 'suckers' it makes me sad.

I'm originally from Walthamstow before moving to Chingford when I was 13. Dad took both me and my sister to the dogs from a very young age, we used to play in the children's playground, eat chips and drink coke while Dad went off with his mates (couldn't do that today).
It was when I was around 12/13 that Dad said to me that I could spend some of my pocket money on a bet so, having read an earlier 'pop' magazine saying that my lucky number was 3, I chose 25p on the 3 dog and it only bloody won! That was my first ever bet and I became a gambler thereafter.

I'm watching a good last frame of the session on the snooker, but this thread is also holding my attention and giving me a good laugh

Same here aspro. My old man used to take me to Belle Vue dogs and I'd be on the playground. I was a fair bit younger but like you say they were different days. Even then I used to get a ten pence free bet on a Saturday. Happy days. Wouldn't have changed them for the world.
Hi King, I don't play Betfair but I have the same problem on Paddy Power. Only solution is to keep playing.

I am so unused to the terminology because pokerstars do not have them anymore as a lot were cheating so they have fifty fifty, which is you get a certain amount then a share according to how many chips you have accumalated. But the same thing, half win and half do not.
I play them on omaha but I don't like them, I prefer the old DoNs.

Had that in a live game once aka. 2 friends who actually run the games. I was SB, one was BB and the other short stacked. Short stack went all-in, I called SB in the hope to check it down with BB who, to my amazement, went all in. With my hand I couldn't call. Of course short-stack won and 'his friend' helped him stay in the game. The sad thing is if I had called I would have knocked them both out. It turned out that I was the one who left on the bubble and I felt cheated by two players who had no integrity. I made tons grinding the old DON's but were axed after the Chinese cheating scandal, also a Reg Fifty50 player but the strategy obv forces more aggressive bubble play
Hate to say Aka but he's probably not as -Ev as you may think, when the shortstack's allin it's almost a freemove to 3bet/Jam allin with anything half decent, even if you lose your stack you still cash as long as shorty loses !
It's good strategic play if done correctly, and chip leader should Boss the Bubble, but too many think they can just try mug you off with junk & a mid stack nowadays

That is why I don't like the Fifty50, I am not aggressive enough

I also used to love folding right down to 30 chips as long as the Big blind wasn't coming at you
the donks would just bust each other so Folding was Very + Ev back then
Now it's the opposite with Fifty50's as if you don't play optimally agg enough or make correct bubble shoves you will end up losing longterm
My advice would be not to play them (on stars for any decent amount) as you just won't beat the games , but if you need any advice i'm happy to help (chipstacks become key to the game)

I rarely play them now, Mc Moonbeam. As you say it is not profitable.

there were absoultely hundreds of Dons used to run on stars at any one time you could register for around 32 games at any stake almost any time (probably nowhere near as many games on here) and don't on stars either now !

It seems to be going quite well. I am pleased with the amount of poker posts. Chit chat has always had a lot of politics threads so that is more difficult. I do think though that politics would be better in chit chat, it would liven it up.

@Mcm Thinking through what you said I still think it ev- to bet other than when low stack still holding a fair few chips.

No I haven't played, mainly because of the time factor in the past, with boyfriends, moving around etc. They do not like me playing So I have stuck to mainly omaha except for holdem freerolls. I like to really go into a game, reading books about it etc, but I do not have the time at the moment.

I've been playin more for fun than anything of recent albeit trying to show a profit.
Stars are running small $100 mtts - $1 buy-ins just now which I'm guessing is them trying to make a market for them.
It's a good way to learn the games though and there are sites who cover the less popular games

Laddies for Razz, can't remember where I first played Badugi been trying it on stars and first saw 2-7 on stars.

No, I didn't play his games as far as I can remember. You had to join through him, didn't you.

I think you are right regarding his games. Ran a league twice and our team (Phats) won it twice.
I earned okay out of his games winning most points both leagues.
He also ran clash of the titans on betfred.

My main gripe with poker is that the tournies go on for so long
I don't wish to spend my spare time on six hours of solid poker with only a five minute break every hour..Especially as if you get anywhere near the money then you are so tired you can't think straight. There was one tourney I was on the final table and ended up just the two of us. I just went allin until I cashed out, I wanted to go to sleep!
There was talk of having tournies that ended at a set time, say after three hours, but there are none like that on omaha, is there any on holdem?

Laddies had tournies like that annie. So many levels then top 10% cashed an equal share of the pot. Can't remember what they were called but I played them.

I have just had a look and there is something called 'timebomb' but they are very short, 15mins, max 45 mins.
Laddies lost them when they changed platforms.
I remember a beating heart (that meant you were in the money) and a skull which meant you were in danger of elimination.
So many got eliminated after each level.

I am fine, terry, and for some reason I am actually a little high, although all I have had is about half a pint of speckled hen this afternoon. I rarely drink beer but I have discovered that if I have to do some work, then sips of beer help! Maybe I feel especially good because I have done some work around the flat that I have been putting off and the flat looks nicer.

No, I only get any info about poker from these forums and the poker site has been dead for a long while. That is why they should be merged. You can see from this thread that a lot of chit chatters play poker.
There's not to many things I won't knock one out too but the poker forum has never rocked my boat...........hope this helps annie!
