They were from Newton Heath Hanks. I ran across a few of their lads playing for different clubs some going as far east as Denton to play for the Halfway House and then on to Sunday league for a team called Edgefield. I remember we used to play all these other local teams from Middleton and surrounding areas and we kept hearing how we'd have a good battle with Edgefield as we also had a few handy lads. Me and my mate who was an ex marine were carrying each other up this huge hill to get ourselves psyched up and fit for a set to and then they came out and it was the same old faces. Of course my mate got sent off after a couple of minutes for knocking one of their lads out. Laugh

So should we just ignore their wishes?

The Falklands conflict is a perfect example of the juvenile and simplistic way the left see the world. Firstly, they argue that the conflict was engineered to be Thatcher's ticket to the election. They conveniently ignore the fact that prior to sending the task force there were an awful lot of informed people (not just left wing nutters) who thought that expediting such an operation in the southern hemipshere was beyond our capabilities by that stage. They also conveniently forget that successful wars are not any kind of guarantee for public gratitude at the poll booths. Ask Churchill. Finally and crucially the left wing nutters totally ignore the most relevant fact. The economy wins or loses elections. At the time of the conflict we were still struggling economically. By the time of the election in 83 the people had become convinced that Thatcher was as good as her word. She had said that the early 80's were going to be tough and she told the people that we would emerge from it. We had.

Any time and more of you left wing loonies want some more actual facts just give me a shout and please don't listen to the numpty who calls himself Facts. You may be well meaning idiots but he's a wrong un.

Facts is a fully fledged imbecile. A dangerous lying one who insists on rewriting history. Thatcher saw the problems inflation caused during the 70's and made it a priority to address it. She did and we reaped the benefits.

As for The Belgrano that halfwit makes out it was a yacht out for a jolly. It was a warship carrying enemy combatants. It's sad that anybody has to die in war but that is always the case. I've never once heard that cretin comment on the loss of life of our brave soldiers. He loves to have a pop at the aggressors soldiers being killed though. What a hypocrite but then given his previous everybody knows that.

Sinking The Belgrano was a sad day for the people who lost their lives and their family's but if the Argentinians hadn't started a war of aggression against our people they wouldn't have got a pasting. You almost imagine Facts would have preferred we lost and the islanders were kicked off, such is his hatred for his own country.

Hey Facts. One more thing. Victory in 79. Smashed Labour. Victory in 83. Smashed Labour. Victory in 85. Smashed Scargill. Victory in 87. Smashed Labour. Even in 2016 and long out of office she's still smashing dopes like you posthumously.

You can see why Ian Mohammed is so keen on the sorts of people who want to destroy Britain, although naturally he doesn't want to live anywhere near their dangerous communities. Less still invite them over the threshold.

Being anything resembling patriotic is, of course, THE number one sin in the modern British 'Socialist' mindset. They prefer a "Britain Last" and "The Enemy of My Enemy Is My Friend" approach.

How different from the generations of heroic Labour-supporting working-class folk who served their country proudly in WW! and WW2 and could not conceive of wanting Britain to be defeated in the Falklands Conflict. They at least knew a Fascist when they saw one.

Thank God their courage and sacrifice meant that one day their indulged descendants could go to see concerts by rock bands and the $100 million dollar 'junk bonds' businessman David Bowie in safety.  That generation were tremendously patriotic as well as profoundly brave. God only knows what that 1940s/50s generation of Labour-supporting parents would make of some of their idiot sons.

A documentary about the late former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, which could be criticised for being an uncritical hommage rather than a balanced view of her premiership. Most of the negative impacts caused by the fundamental changes she brought to Britain have been "elegantly" omitted, but her motives, her basic believes, her encouraging message and everything positive she stood for are beautifully summarised and one understands why despite her errors and some misjudgement she could be praised as a great and visionary politician who not only changed Britain for the better (on balance) but had an influence on the world like few other politicians can claim.

"Documentary" sounds like it was pushing it just a bit.

Regarding the "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead" song, as everyone will recall, there was a successful campaign amongst supporters of the British Left to get this song high into the pop/download charts after Thatcher died. (Ditto Elvis C's remarkable 'Tramp The Dirt Down', and there may have been others).

As history tells us, many many thousands of (mainly young) left-leaning people chose to buy these songs at the time, spending around 50p or so each time for the pleasure.

Would the large sums of money have been better spent by these lefties on causes that they believe in (or perhaps more accurately, pretend to believe in), such as giving aid to the poorest people in the UK or abroad?

Would it have been better to spend the umpteen thousands of pounds, for example, on Food Aid for the millions of children in the North of England starving to death, or to give it to already-rich tax-avoiding Big Businesses?

Given the choice of helping the disadvantaged, or wearing their hatred proudly, the lefties naturally chose the latter.
