The 3.6 against leaving seems good value. The bloke in the street doesn't understand the economic complications and probably neither do most politicians so to Joe Public it's all about immigration and he's sick of uncontrolled immigration into the UK.
My vote will be to leave and to anyone who disagrees please tell me if we take in an extra million people in the next 3 years (the same number approx. as now live in Birmingham/Manchester) where they are all going to live. Where will their children be schooled and where are the hospitals to attend to their health needs? Throw in a road and transport system which now grinds to a halt all too often at present and it is physically impossible to keep accepting the current amount of people into the country. Again just ask Where are these people going to live? I guarantee you wont get a straight answer. |

Some racism maybe, but we soon grew up and realised that underneath we're all pretty much the same. That may well be true but that does not mean we can live together...look at the touble we have with Muslims now???????????????????? I agree with Bix it is a question of the numbers now, we cannot keep taking immigrants |

It has got worse because ex East European countries entered the EU, the only thing we get from is people
Also we had the Cedit Crunch in 2009, everywhere is in recession now. |

The country can not cope its getting more and more clogged up
Roads, schools, doctors, hospitals, prisons. Then they say "We need all these immigrants to work in the hospitals etc" We would not need them if you didn't let 3 to 4 100,000 people in each year as you have for the last 20 odd years |

The free movement of labour is a good idea but fundamentally flawed because it is not a level playing field. It would work if 50,000 people from the UK want to leave and live in say Romania thus freeing up the accommodation and facilities used by that 50,000 to allow 50,000 from another country to come to the UK. But we all know that is not how it works in practice.

Don't hold your breath over the debate though. Scare stories from both sides set to escalate, but not expecting any intelligent interaction. |

100 years ago, anyone selling British sovereignty abroad would have been shot as a traitor. In recent decades, successive Conservative and Labour governments have competed to see who can be the biggest traitors. And they've all been so successful! It's OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT for me!

And if the EU was so great for jobs. Why is it that Greece and Spain have record unemployment? And if jobs were so great in Eastern Europe - why is it that they are all flocking to the UK?

Turkey moving closer to joining Eorope - heres a heads up fom a balanced source:
Turkey's application to accede to the European Economic Community, the predecessor of the European Union (EU), was made on 14 April 1987 Upon accession to the EU, Turkey expects to receive economic development aid similar to what Ireland, Greece, Spain and Portugal received. There is also an expectation that there will be an increase in European foreign investment in the Turkish economy, further driving economic growth. Additionally, in times of economic crisis, Turkey could expect economic assistance from the EU,[citation needed] similar to what Ireland, Greece and Portugal received after the 2008 financial crisis. Free movement of people across the EU will give many Turkish people the opportunity to easily migrate to other parts of Europe in search of work, or a higher standard of living. All this by 2021 - not that far away.... |
