I Believe In Miracles on BT Sport. 1hr45mins of great archive footage and the story of Nottingham Forest's European Cup win as told by the old players reminiscing.

Got promoted in 3rd place from Division 2, then won Division 1 in their first season up to qualify for Europe.

Plenty of Cloughie magic and some great tales from the team. Great footage of Trevor Francis (before he moved to Forest) in his dinner jacket getting an award (PFA Player of the Year?) on stage from Clough, who told Francis off for standing with hands in pockets and wouldn't give him the trophy til he took them out!

Frank Clark getting a b*llocking from Clough for going for a run when they were supposed to be having a day off, another time when the only player allowed to do any exercise was Birtles and that was only because Clough had picked him as his squash partner!

A cracking story, loads of humour and great footage. Seek it out.

The days when a British team didn't just mean the location of the stadium - not a foreign mercenary in sight (unless you count Archie Gemmill). Clough walks past the Spurs fans first game of the season as champions and literally everyone applauds. Imagine the same scene today - lots of w@nker signs, swearing and aggression.

Feel good stuff. If you find it, you'll be pleased you did.

Thanks Roger for the heads up, I remember that Forest era very well, Brian Clough was an absolute legend and I use that word very sparingly in life.

Greatest ever English manager. What he done with small provincial clubs is absolutely outstanding. If the snobs at the F.A. had given him the job, England would have won another couple of World Cups.

You fellas will absolutely love this. I was only 2 at the time so missed it and am learning as I go (eg. they drew European Champions Liverpool in the first round of their winning European Cup campaign. Colin Barrett charged forward to score the second and recalled "I remember Tony Woodcock grabbing my arm to celebrate. I just told him to F off, I was off and gone").

Keep realising I am watching with a big grin on my face.

Think it was the Charity Shield and Clough leading the team out makes them stop and so the other team have to stop too. Then you see him talk to the team, wondering what the hold up is, then they all turn round and wave to the Forest fans behind them!

League Cup 1979 he made Peter Taylor lead the team out because he said "I play squash and am quite fit but Peter Taylor doesn't do any exercise and is putting on weight so I told him the exercise would do him good"!

Won't say any more as I'm going to spoil some good bits for anyone who tracks this down, but it is cracking stuff.

Forest only got promoted from division 2 because Wolves beat Bolton on the last match. Wolves had already won the league & Bolton only needed a draw.

Greatest manager ever in my opinion, his methods were unique and the results speak for themselves.A number of betting men in the Forest squad, and the stories make modern football seem totally bland by comparison.

In 1979 I played in a cup final when I was 16 for a team my dad managed. The competition was for regional amateur clubs, and some of the reserve teams from a handful of professional clubs. We played Forest reserves in the final and we were surprised to see Brian turn up (he came on a pushbike as he was banned from driving at the time) for what was in fact a nothing match really for Forest. We ended up playing against Chris Woods, Colin Barrett, Gary Mills, Ian Bowyer, John O'Hare and Gary Birtles.......we lost 6-0 Sadended up being very good friends with GB as he worked for my dad for a while.

Peter Taylor was a former manager of ours and Brian always said his favourite club was Burton Albion

Thanks for this Roger. This was the last era of football that I felt ANY engagement with.

If I could select just ONE game to see from that period it would unquestionably be the 1978/9 European Cup First Round Second Leg match at Anfield between Liverpool and Forest.

Liverpool were trying for a third straight European Cup win, Forest the ONLY team in Britain that had consistently given them problems in the previous year. An inspired Forest had taken a 2-0 lead into the return leg, and before a frenzied Anfield crowd Clough's men stood toe to toe with the great Paisley side and held out for a magnificent 0-0 result. Sadly, this was in the days of 20 minutes highlights on 'Sportsnight', so publicly we've seen very little of it and very little of it is available on Youtube and the like.

I used to see a woman who was an Anfield season ticket holder and obsessive fan. She once described that night, that Forest game, as something like no other she'd seen of the hundreds of Liverpool matches she'd watched, including the legendary 1977 St Etienne game where super-sub David Fairclough came off the bench to write himself into Liverpool folklore.

If there is anyone out there who was a full-length film of it, don't be shy.

If I recall correctly Ray Kennedy was majestic in that St Etienne match, when it was on a knife edge he turned the knife.

After those late 15 or 20 min. everything changed.

not that one mm although Kennedy did score, when it looked like Liverpool were going out, after that game they never looked like losing to anyone again...except Forest and their great manager CloughHappy

Always liked the footage of Clough at Forests training ground.
Think it was Archie Gemmel was running down the left wing and hit a pretty poor cross

You heard Cloughs distinctive voice from the sideline shout.. OH thats awful, Bloody awful!

Just the way he said it, he was funny, charming and charismatic.
