Right is there anyone on here whose 14 yr old daughter goes to a concert tomorrow night and comes home dripping with SP**K because a member of some music bank decided she was fair play thinks that is correct ????? Please post now that it is acceptable and you agree that the law should not be involved as your daughter should have kept her feckin knickers on ! |

You do seem quite mad. Give your head a shake. The fella wasn't saying he sought out under aged girls. If young girls were chasing around at all hours chasing after sex with older men then their parents should be putting their foot down. |

I played Bass guitar in the band ...but also play a bit of Rythm/Lead guitar now.
Just love guitars ..although I must admit I'm no "Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page" (I wish). I'm now in my sixties ...so been playing a long time ...there are 15 year old kids on YouTube who play better than me ... Great playing Ron, shes very good.
I went to the Ronny Lane 'benefit at the Albert hall, Jeff Beck played 6 numbers showing his guitar skills, Slowhand followed, again great playing, then Jimmy page came on, what a performance, he made that guitar absolutely sing, incredible playing. unfortunately made the other 2 look ordinary, which of course they were not. |

Well ..they're now in their late 30's ... I remember when they were teenagers - when they came home from school the 'phone wouldn't stop ringing - girlfriends phoning boys asking them out for dates I suppose etc ...was most annoying but I really didn't interfere that much in their lives. I clealy remember some events in the past...now with some amusement - My wife and I had been to London shopping one nice summers day - I remember coming back home (we had a large detatched bungalow with a swimming Pool in the back garden ..Log Chalet etc) ..the garden was full of their teenage girlfriends and some boys ...my wife remarked ..Oh my God some of those girls are "topless" (not my daughters mind) I just laughed - let em get on with it. I mean as an Adult parent ...what can you do ? |

Savile was untouchable at the time because he raised millions for children's charities (and no doubt resulted in many kids lives being saved in hospital). Also, probably because of his philanthropy, the police thought he was a brilliant chap and therefore he could do no wrong in their eyes (and to a lot of the population as well).
And to top it all, he was a personal friend of the prime minister (Thatcher) and was invited to the Thatchers private house over the Christmas period. With that sort of 'ammunition', what chance did the victims of his abuse ever have of bringing Savile to court for his crimes - virtually none sadly! |

I remember being at school aged 14/15 and quite a few girls were going out with 18yr olds that had left the school a couple of years earlier always found that a bit creepy even when I was 14/15 so even that slight age difference,hanging outside school gates waiting for them made my skin crawl even then..

It's a funny old World ..just out of interest I was looking at age of consent for sex in different Countries :-
In the Netherlands, the official age of consent for sexual activity is 16. But as the Holland Sentinel has reported, Holland�s age-of-consent law "permits sex between an adult and a young person between 12 and 16 if the young person consents. In Spain - it used to be 13 - now 16. In - Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, San Marino - it's 14. And if you look at some of the "Arab World" ...they're getting married from the age of 8 ! I'm sure you've seen the adverts on telly asking for donations to stop the practice ... DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER ! |
