Statistics mean nowt. In the real world we see people who are seriously ill being forced to work in charity shops or partake in worthless schemes to get their entitled benefits. Government would save more money scrapping these worthless training schemes, which cost a fortune, and just pay the genuine sick their entitled benefits. To suggest that everybody claiming benefits is a scrounger is utter nonsense. Perhaps some of the posters need to get more involved in their communities. Like I said earlier, it's the genuine cases that are more likely to suffer. People who are fit and work shy know how to play the system. There is a sad lack of compassion in this country now and we all know who is to blame for that. I tend to agree with some fair points that EO has made. And before anybody makes a wild statement, I have worked all my life and had my own businesses creating jobs. I see a young woman who is obviously unfit for work go for the bus every day to partake on a scheme, while young druggies don't and get more money than her. One day that poor lass is going to drop dead in the street. I hope I'm wrong on that point.

My daughter has a friend who has some problems, but still works - full time, even though it's difficult for her. This poor girl has a 16 year old sister who is seriously mentally disabled. Their mother (aged 50) has to be a full time carer and unfortunately has a spinal problem inhibiting her movement, despite this she still works (in the main cleaning toilets in a school) for 16 hours a week. Their father has died.
One week the woman was asked to fill in for a missing colleague and had 2 hours extra duty and so worked for 18 hours. As a result and with no right to appeal, she was sanctioned and had her benefits (which are vital for her to live on) stopped for a month. The oldest daughter cannot move back home to live with her mother and sister because she will then become liable for paying the rent, which on its own is more than her (minimum) wage. So, she's fecked and life's already hard enough. This sort of thing doesn't make good TV or sell papers, but is much more common than the stuff that does. Not that it's the first time it has been mentioned on here, the scroungers and cheats make up the MINORITY of people who claim benefits. Still, so long as the politicians and journalists earn plenty and can set rules and opinion the way they want to, there will we be people - as evidenced on here so often - who will continue to spread the word for them. |

That's a very sobering story Study. Unfortunately there will be many cases like that but even more examples of people rinsing the system by working 16 hours and making their money up near enough to full time through tax credits. How you help the former and discourage the latter is the question. Osborne seems to be trying to do the latter but I'd agree that the Tories aren't helping the former very much.

Is that where you got your dirty mouth from, the dirty protest? I should have guessed you were army material. |

You couldn't guess your arse from your elbow. Look at the above posts and still say you're right. You and your two mates IS and EE have seriously out of sync wyrd. EE thought he was being clever, as he often does, by posting things that he expects people don't know. A bit like you when you say people don't know their stats then you complain because they're up-to-date. You post no evidence of anything. Just sheer clap trap from a waste a patronising waste of space. You said: "People like that are always angry. Spoilt as children, they grow up expecting to get their own way in everything, then when they bump into anyone with a contrary view they start throwing the insults around. They rarely amount to anything in life." I'd wager a large bet I've done more, and achieved more, in my life than you ever will in your pompous arrogant futile existence. YOU ARE IN SERIOUS NEED OF HELP. |

Apologise you didn't. "Just having a laugh Charlie. This place is for bread and circuses." That is not an apology.
"Dragging dopes through hedges backwards is something of a specialty of mine. Buckle up sucker. Your ride is about to get bumpy." Mr arrogant, get you. I'm really frightened. |
|
By:
It was an olive branch. You don't need to be frightened in any way. Humiliation can be enriching.
|
|
By:
Your version of an olive branch must be someone being whipped with it.
Humiliation is for someone humiliated. Not me. You try to be so clever, at times I have thought you post good comments, but often fail. I'm quite prepared for anything you say. Bullies never win. |
|
By:
I would hate for anybody to think I'm a bully. Even my worst enemy. I put my stake in the ground and defend it. If you can't see the first post on this page as an olive branch then you were and are clearly in the mood for confrontation and like I said I'll be your huckleberry.

Saying "Dragging dopes through hedges backwards is something of a specialty of mine. Buckle up sucker. Your ride is about to get bumpy."
Must be pretty close to bullying. What was this supposed to mean: "Marvellous news. Give us a shout if you need any help searching for your brain Charlie. Wink"? Just answer truthfully in plain English. |

Not really. I was responding to this: EE thought he was being clever, as he often does, by posting things that he expects people don't know. I took exception to your presumptiousness. Don't tell me what I think or what I think people don't know. I'd guess most posters on here are of a certain age. Few will be unaware of what a dirty protest is. Just answer truthfully in plain English. In plain English, whilst the guts of the thread has been ripped out with posts being removed I didn't like you, Baron and tony taking it in turns cheap shotting Crippen. |

I'll have to trawl through thread to see who said what to whom. But not now. You do have a knack of trying to be smart. Just speak in plain English and don't try and threaten people. Agree that original important topic has unfortunately been sidetracked. Memory serves the other way round. IS and Crippen certainly having a go at me when I joined in and Tony before that. I'll check tomorrow. Some posts have been removed however. |

It's a bit late to start boasting now after telling us you're ex army. By the way. What were you running away from in the army - work? |
|
By:
shows you for all your worth crippen ,trying to belittle a mans service to his country.
|
|
By:
tony,
What was he trying to do except belittle me by calling me a ****? I hadn't provoked him at all. If he's a representative of the army type then it doesn't say much for them. |
|
By:
you can argue with the man ..you can call him whatever, but don't question his service to his country.

This is you not provoking me at all: "He comes on here sounding off and calling people obscene names and he hasn't even seen any figures to back up what he says." Was wrong, i had seen the figures. "People like that are always angry." Wrong, I rarely get angry. "Spoilt as children, " Completely wrong, I come from a very working class family who often hadn't got two brass half-pennies to rub together. "they grow up expecting to get their own way in everything, then when they bump into anyone with a contrary view they start throwing the insults around. " As an (ex) university lecturer this clearly doesn't make sense. I could use your title but don't. They rarely amount to anything in life." Debatable. What were you running away from in the army - work? Laughable really. There's a few more but you get the gist. |

15 Jan 16 21:02 I'd like to look at the figures, where do you get them from please. Charlie 19 Jan 16 20:08 Crippen This is you not provoking me at all: "He comes on here sounding off and calling people obscene names and he hasn't even seen any figures to back up what he says." You seem to have missed off most of what I posted. No answer to those either. Selective reply which just happens to be nonsense.
