what a load of tosh, having something to get out of bed for must be healthy for the mind, earning your own wages will lead to healthier mind and soul.

If my post was tosh yours is bollocks.

Being forced to get out of bed and go to work when you're ill isn't healthy for the mind, body or soul.

Can't agree more with Ibrahima Sonko.

What can be more soul destroying than living on benefits, especially when you know in your heart that you are a fraud.
I say get out and earn your keep and leave the begging bowl to those who genuinely need help.

Afraid charlie is a defeatist, he would rather have people that are not allowed to escape the welfare system.

I have an Uncle who has issues, but he is made to work in a charity shop 3 days a week, he pretends its a pain in the butt but he actually looks forward to it, plus we get to talk about it instead of discussing how is it sat around at home all day doing nothing.

The background to all this is the assessment Labour commissioned reported back in about 2008/09 which suggested that a significant majority of people claiming they were too ill to work were actually capable of working. That was discussed at length on the politics forum at the time but doesn't seem to be out there on the net now. Something had to be done and it was Labour who started the process. It isn't party political. Thatcher was a big causative factor of the problems we still have. I support engaging with people to help them back in to meaningful employment. Equally I don't like the sick being hounded.

why should he be paid charlie ?

He gets a flat & weekly payment from the government. Even if it costs the government money to get people back into work and it runs at a loss it has to be much healthier for society in the long term.

did he just call me the c word ?

It should be apolitical but isn't right now.

I whole heartedly agree with help in engaging people back to work as they see fit for themselves. Forcing ill people back to work is a different issue. The fit for work tests that these people are put through are ludicrous.

If someone is genuinely ill the i would be surprised if they were made to work. Clearly their will be mistakes but at this moment we have the lowest unemployment for ages.

If you are a leftie then you will highlight the sad failed cases, lefties need failures to survive, they feed off it.

But at the moment they have hundreds of thousands back into work, how can that not be good ?

That's a different scheme I believe. Will it get him back into paid work?

There are ill people and there are scroungers. They are not necessarily the same.

There are a lot more unemployed that do nothing and are not ill. That is a bigger problem.

I'm probably far right not left. But I suppose they join somewhere.

You seem to have missed the whole point of this discussion; ill people, often seriously ill people, are being classified as fit for work.

I'd like to look at the figures, where do you get them from please.

He cant handle a full time job, as the past proves. At the moment it is going well but no doubt he will get bored and it will go tits up.

Maybe the government think it could lead to full time employment, i dont know. He suffered brain damage as a child, very intelligent but juvenile habits at the age of 50.

Sorry to here that.

People like your uncle, and unfortunately worse, are being passed as fit for work and having benefits stopped. Some will find employment and be exploited. The system is wrong.

He comes on here sounding off and calling people obscene names and he hasn't even seen any figures to back up what he says.
He must think that the DWP should simply take everyone's word for it that they're ill.

You said "Perhaps that's why the figures for people claiming a disability have gone through the roof." and "He comes on here sounding off and calling people obscene names and he hasn't even seen any figures to back up what he says."

I said "I'd like to look at the figures, where do you get them from please".

According to this the figures haven't gone through the roof:

Ah, foul-mouthed Charlie.

Are going to call me an obscene name again if I answer your silly question and put you away for the night?

What are you trying to pull? Those figures are since 2014.
The tests have been running since 2011.

They prove the effectiveness of the new tests.

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) 3.13 million claimants down 119 thousand since February 2014
Try again.

if them figures are true crippen the only reason will be people waiting on appeals?(increased 35% since 2011) as you well know thousands have been refused dla wrongly since this gov was elected..claims for its replacement ..PIP are up on dla numbers?so no savings only more cost threw incompetence from the tories

People who make fraudulent benefit claims are streetwise and know how to beat the system. The people suffering from the cutbacks are mostly the genuine cases. The old, sick and handicapped. IDS and the rest are evil.

People like that are always angry.

Spoilt as children, they grow up expecting to get their own way in everything, then when they bump into anyone with a contrary view they start throwing the insults around.

They rarely amount to anything in life.

good for you, its a biased right wing zone, some of us out debated plenty on there without being vile, only stating facts about government ministers incompetence or government policy that is ideologically driven..yet all threads were deleted?..yet when I and others complained..crippen and eo ..blamed myself and others saying were were breaking betfair rules by accusing ministers of such things.....I left saying what I thought and stating it was a joke..how funny it was to see EO then leave and cry over his posts deleted with others that were not liked..Laugh

tony it shouldn't surprise you to see a lot of your posts removed.

Many of your posts contain abuse.

Others of yours that were removed, accused The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions of murder over his welfare reforms.

You stick your neck out them complain when it's chopped off.

Everybody gets posts deleted, left-wing and right-wing.
I covered Tony's deleted posts on my last visit here.

its a biased right wing zone

It is now.
So if you're left-wing and fancy a go on the Politics forum. You'll need to go armed with more than single line abusive comments like most of the current left wing crop that venture there these days.

Although sean rua is the exception.

i never accused anyone of murder, please post were I said this?..

All your offensive stuff been taken down as well you know. It's not there anymore. Betfair has deleted the lot.

I can debate you to death

You couldn't debate what to have for dinner.

Asking question after question littered with inaccuracies and your own made up figures is not debating.

Most people down even bother answering your posts now. I'm the only one you've got left who bothers with you.

That's why you nearly always address everything to me.
