I can't take this in. I'm truly shocked. The word genius is often overused, not in his case. He was amazing. I have listened to, and loved all his music ever since he emerged. Often changing his stage persona ,his music was incredible. My absolute rock hero. A huge huge loss. |
|
By:
Awful news. The greatest artist this country has produced.
RIP. |

He'll be gigging with Mick (Mick Ronson - Spiders from Mars) tonight in heaven.
R.I.P. David such a great talent. |

Truly sad news
Got a little bit emotional sat alone in the car, in the dark, pouring rain, jammed in traffic, whilst they played a non-stop half an hour of Bowie 'Hunky Dory' has been in my personal Top 3 for the majority of my life Take a look at this graphic from a couple of years ago http://helengreenillustration.com/Time-May-Change-Me |
|
By:
didn't realise he was ill........anyone know what sort of cancer got him.......he was one of the people you thought would go on forever.......very sad
|
|
By:
Great graphic poppydog.
He continually changed his persona and musical style. A true true artist in every sense. |

R.i.p Ziggy Stardust
But I disagree with - In my opinion , the greatest rock star we will ever see has passed away. Elvis was the King |
|
By:
Not that many dimensions to Elvis.

The media wmust be ecstatic, another celebrity to fawn over in the afterlife and an excuse to write and play his music all week. Bowie produced some fine music but by Friday I expect to be sick of it.
|
|
By:
Very sad news, growing up in the early-mid 70s prior to punk/new wave the only good things were Bowie and Roxy Music
though Bowie was streets ahead creatively - agree with Poppydog Hunky Dory is in my top 10 albums of all time though Low and Station to Station not far behind we will not see his like again... rip the man who fell to earth |

By:
treetop
Some of us play his music every week and have done for six decades. And will never be ' sick of it ' |
|
By:
I can understand that facts,my emphasis is more on the media style to the afterlife.
|
|
By:
hit me hard this morning, balled my eyes out like a kid,
thanks for everything david ![]() |

Understand treetop.
It was the same when John Lennon died. All his songs /albums went to No. 1 We can expect the same with David. |
|
By:
one of his best live performances ten years ago

I was a teenager in the 70's but its only really in the last few years that I've really appreciated David Bowie.
So many of his records bring back memories ...1983 Camden Palace dancing to Lets Dance with a new girlfriend. I think people are so effected by his death because he actually seemed part of their lives and you only realise this when he's gone. One of the few who really will still be played in 100's of years time. |
|
By:
The current cult of celebrity, where people are famous for being famous without displaying an ounce of talent makes me sick. I'd gladly round the whole lot of them up and use them as the first line of defence against ISIS with just a wooden stick to fight with.
However the news of his passing is truly a very sad day and tears have been shed by this 54 year old music fan who finds it hard to remember a time when David Bowie's music wasn't there. RIP and 'wham bam thank you ma'am' |
|
By:
Started in '69 with the first version of Space Oddity, for me. I was 20 and probably one of the older original fans.Followed his career since. His songs were magical.
Immense talent. |
|
By:
Only just heard the dreadfully sad news. The big "C" yet again!
The first 8 Track I got was his, in the early years. So much talent and an absolute pro, and clean living gent! Can't help but be pretty choked up here and remembering him singing "Heroes" at The "Concert For New York" after 9-11. R.I.P to that beautiful man.... ![]() |

not often I get emotional when a so called rock star dies but this has shook me up big time. Was only watching him perform Blackstar a couple of nights ago on youtube and thought even Bowies starting to look old these days..... ri p a total one off we will never see the like of again.

Ricky Gervais email.
On his 57th birthday I wrote '57, isn't it about time you got a proper job? Ricky Gervais, comedian, 42'. He sent back "I have a proper job. David Bowie, Rock god." |
|
By:
What a phenomenally successful life. Well played that man.

A sad day,RIP David.

Not really my cup of tea was Bowie but I do appreciate his effect, influence and legendary status within the music industry which can't be doubted.
