Sorry didn't see your post to me earlier boxing. I understand and actually have some sympathy with mikael's comment. The Islam issue has (excuse the pun) exploded recently, perhaps boringly regularly for some.
But why is the question? Shiit's been happening. Regularly. To me it's very complex with all manner of roots. I won't bore you or anybody else with my views on that. Suffice to say I believed studyform's comment about what happened in 1930's Germany staggering. I find it staggering because whilst conceding that the problem is multi faceted at the present time with Islam, Muslim and even to some extent some radical Islamists having some genuine grievances they do at least have open and relatively tolerant societies allowing them to air their grievances. In fact worse. In our case for many years they were (perhaps not as much now) allowed to make public expressions which would have seen others arrested. All manner of traditional social and cultural expressions of "Britishness" have been toned down and allowances made for Islamic practices which are not reciprocated in the Islamic world. For example the building of Mosques/Churches. On numerous occasions our people have been bombed, blown up, beheaded etc etc. Whilst some would argue, with some justification many would say, that these are retaliatory attacks because of similar atrocities committed against Islamic people the fact is that these things have happened. And yet the attitudes of most western people has remained remarkably stoical in the face of these acts. Which returns me to my wow moment. If you're giving me the hint that all along Study has actually been amongst the sane on this issue then fair enough. He's sure played his hand well. I took his comment to actually mean that the situation in our society is indeed analogous to that of Germany in the 30's and for the reasons given above I think that is grossly offensive stupidity. If I've been done up like a kipper then well played Study but he must have been playing the long game because his comment didn't come as a surprise to me and was in keeping with many of the other comments I've seen him make. We've had our tiffs. ![]() |

Thanks EO, (Eloquent as usual) I was more concerned with the spat between Mikael and myself, and the restrictive nature of this medium, that can lead to aggression/misunderstanding. As for Study, I'm gobsmacked, it can only be drugs, ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That's what I thought. I've got Study down as one of those no good trouble causing bleeding heart luvvies and I was doubting myself with your comment.
