some time before we are told tho', as the geopolitics are very complicated. A bomb is bad news for Putin. And he doesn't like bad news.

Putins reaction will be very interesting,it is said the third world war started five years ago,we are living in very very unstable times.
Putin is a guy I think that the world needs (to a point) to keep the yanks in check. The devastation caused by usa in middle east cental America is appalling, and we are now paying the price. It is a bad time to be aligned with the US and NATO imo. How Putin reacts will certainly give us an indication of what his long term intentions are.I started a topic called BRICS earlier well worth a visit to google. |
|
By:
Interesting to see how Putin reacts - that ISIS coud kill so many Russians is not something he would want to acknowledge but if he's looking for an excuse to get more involved in Syria...
The battle lines are being drawn as the superpowers carve up the middle east between them. |

By:
Possible Taliban / ISIS breakout of Northern Afghaniastann into former Soviet states of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan (who are still very much pro-Moscow)
This would create a second front to the Syrian / northern Iraq conflict and give ISIS control of lucrative opium smuggling routes into Russia and Eastern Europe Putin getting more and more sucked into an anti-ISIS position. The West should be using all diplomatic powers necessary to bolster this position, since we can negotiate with Putin far more readily than we can with ISIS, who, IMO represent a far greater present danger to the West than Putin ever does or will. |

Airport security??
A few years ago I was flying out of Birmingham Airport early-ish one morning and was going through the security scan machine. Nearby was a security check for crew generally, not just my flight. Anyway crew people went through scanner and it beeped. Guy who set it off brought out a bunch of keys and showed it to security guy and then just carried on!! And on a flight back from Newark to Birmingham on Continental a few years ago, boarded and sat in my seat and ready to go when 4 people who were late rushed on (looked like 2 couples), put stuff in overhead lockers and sat down. 2 minutes later called flight attandant over and for whatever reason they all jumped up and got off. I then asked flight attendant how she could be sure that they had taken off everything they put in the lockers. She went off and came back with a security guy who just said I could get off if I wanted! May be better these days? |

I thought initally putin might ignore it,and put it down to mechanical failre, but he can't now.
Putin is not a man to mess with. |

You can see a white flash from the centre of the aircraft as the bomb explodes followed by black smoke and then the breakup of the aircraft.
Please forgive but where is the link to this? The only ones I've seen have been dismissed by experts as useless fabrication! |
|
By:
I think this footage is genuine, but others may disagree. Also, if you look carefully, you can see, just for a second or two, orange coloured flame immediately following the explosion trailing within the black smoke behind the aircraft. Here is the link taken from an Indian TV station. Commentary is not in English.

By:
That's the same footage I saw earlier.
Experts have dismissed it on several grounds. Firstly as not even being the same type of plane! Secondly as appearing to have been taken from a following aircraft, and also at a much lower altitude than reality. None of that, of course, can rule out the possibility of some other explanation. Where's our good friend, and ex pilot,"Irishone" when he's needed? |
|
By:
'Firstly as not even being the same type of plane!' - How can they say that? The A321 has 2 engines, and because this video isn't that clear, it's not obvious from this footage whether this aircraft has 2 or 4 engines. Also the profile of this aircraft is not clear enough to make out whether this is a Boeing or an Airbus, but the explosion is clear enough in my view.
'Secondly as appearing to have been taken from a following aircraft, and also at a much lower altitude than reality.' - It looks very much like the video is taken from a hand held mobile phone and therefore would be taken at ground level. You can see that the operator zooms in on the aircraft almost immediately after the explosion. |

Just quoting "the experts".

This news report in last 10 mins:
Airline had not paid employees for two months The airline of the jet that crashed into the Sinai had not paid its staff in over two months, Russian news agencies have reported. The widow of the doomed jet's co-pilot, Sergey Trukhachov, said that he had not been paid for three months. Metrojet's parent company, Kogalymavia, has wage arrears at around 70 million rubles, or just over $1 million, according to its CEO Alexander Snagovsky. |
|
By:
It can be any plane, it could be filmed any time/any day/ any year!
They must use that new special 33mm 330x zoom lens from Hoaxfilms.co, designed to rally the Russian people. |
|
By:
We will only get to know what they want us to know... carry on guessing
|
|
By:
That video has been discredited as it didn't come from ISIS sources and ISIS themselves have denied said it wasn them.
That's not to say a bomb bought the plane down, but why has no group taken "credit" if that was the case? |
|
By:
Plane's can come apart mid air without there been a bomb or been shot down. Can't remember when but a plane split apart before. A part was wrongly repaired and it kept on get re repaired but the orginal crack was not properly done and 20 years later the crack caused the plane to basically split mid air.
|
|
By:
its too early to say what caused it, so said an expert on tv earlier. he mentioned a japanese plane coming apart, that could be the one you remember anfield. it wont stop the conspiracies though.
|
|
By:
strange thread, unless ive missed something nobody has confirmed it wsa a bomb and the footage wasnt even the same plane
|
|
By:
Ch 4 expert just said it looks like device exploded from within aircraft !
|
|
By:
I'm pretty sure ISIS also took down the Hindenburg.
|
|
By:
GRANTCKING - how do you know that it wasn't the same aircraft in the video?
|
|
By:
"The experts" had said it wasn't the same type of plane as the engines were at the rear, rather than under the front wings.
From the video I can't see engines at the rear but, more clearly, I can't see them at the front either! |

Seems to be a lot of conflicting info. at the moment from different parties who don't want to take the flak. Egyptian authorities adamant that it wasn't shot down because they want to rule out the idea that they don't have control over the areas and terrorists from within are shooting down planes and airline adamant that it was caused by an external factor because they want to rule out the idea that they may be at fault.
To early to tell at this stage what happened. |
|
By:
No definate aswers to anything yet .., what i would say is initially there was definate noises from Egypt that the pilot made a mayday ,this has now been completely rubished and anything else this country says should be taken with a large pinch of salt .Reports suggest the russians have grounded this carriers remaining fleet and raided their premisis .Not sure but think they are now suggesting there is some sort of mechanical wreckage that should not be their ,not sure what they are trying to suggest , Bits of another aircraft ,a missile ,ect ....the sinai is a fairly high peninusla and might offer a opp for certain devices to be launched and is a hostile area , folks inspecting the wreckage did not take along helicopter gunships for the hell of it imo .Reading some opinions of photos there seems to be agreement the tail section detached after some sort of fire but no sign of any real clues as to what exactly occurred ,wrong to shout bomb as it really might just fit in neatly here .

In view of the fact that Chit-Chat was, as usual, well ahead of the world's intelligence services with this supposition it would seem appropriate to open an official counter-terrorism branch to the CCDA.
The world needs it... ![]() |

By:
I'm not a security expert, but
when I read that: 1. the plane didn't issue a Mayday call; and 2. it broke up suddenly in mid-air; 3. it took off in the Middle East in an area that's suffering from terrorism (recent attacks in Sharm El Sheikh, FFS) and came down 20 minutes or so later; I thought - it's probably a bomb. ![]() |
|
By:
I still claim that the video that I linked in my original post is genuine, despite whatever anyone else is saying. I think the guy who took the footage KNEW what was going to happen to the plane and started filming as the aircraft flew overhead and just carried on filming until the bomb exploded. His camera had a zoom lens and you can see him zooming in as soon as the bomb exploded. You can also see for about 1 or 2 seconds following the explosion orange flames in the trailing black smoke. The initial white smoke/vapour at the point of detonation is possible white vapour which occurs during sudden decompression with the sudden drop in air pressure. That white vapour disappears as soon as the air pressure is equalised to the external atmospheric pressure (in this case 31,000 feet).

By:
It's not so much the passengers that they should be looking at, it's the airport staff that should be examined a lot more closely with much tighter security for employees.
|
|
By:
I don't think any of it's "rocket science".
Mussie nutty sympathiser puts bomb on plane in unstable mid east country. There is NO way you would ever get me to fly on a plane that went anywhere near the mid east or mussie country - in fact I'm not very confident of security anywhere with these nutters. Airport staff ![]() ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
His camera had a zoom lens and you can see him zooming in
I thought you said it was a mobile phone! Can you get one now with a zoom lens? We can all speculate, day in and out, but don't you agree that a pilot's comments are likely to be more accurate here? |
|
By:
Aunty Post - oh ok, I don't have a mobile phone with a camera. Do the latest smart phones not have a camera zoom facility? You may be right - maybe they don't. Anyone else wish to confirm that this facility is or is not available? Regarding the pilot of this aircraft, he wouldn't have had time to record anything with the cockpit voice recorder as everything would cease to function at the point of detonation.
|
|
By:
Regarding the pilot of this aircraft,
Not the pilot of this aircraft! The one who gave his expert opinion! |

Aunty
You really haven't got time for all this chit-chat - you should be shredding those accounts. The tax authorities can go back forever if they have evidence of evasion. FFS get shredding! |
