@Jack Hacksaw -- The show must be unique in that it is a competition apparently requiring a certain set of attributes, yet the winner is determined by a person who has a completely different agenda based on his vested interest.
I'm not sure that's really true any more. When the prize was a job, Lord Sugar would spend 6 to 8 weeks looking for a brash sales droid, then right at the last minute remember he built his companies by employing people like Nick and Margaret. But for the investment, I assume all the business plans have some merit and it is about seeing if the people are up to carrying them out -- can they sell, advertise, negotiate and so on? So the tasks are more relevant than they used to be. |

Week 3 -- buying stuff in Britain and France.
I read in the Daily Mail that educational standards have dropped but seriously, how can you not know where Dover is? |
|
By:
Team leader makes a complete and utter horlicks of it from start to finish. Presumably her business plan is good.
|
|
By:
In previous years, teams have been criticised on this task for spending too much time planning. This showed what a complete shambles comes from both teams trying to wing it.
|
|
By:
Except normally planning time eats into buying time. This year, planning time was overnight in the hotel when you couldn't buy anything - unless a champagne flute seller was sitting at the next table.

Saw last nights show. From what I remember the last series had a different actor playing Lord Sugars characters sidekick. Dont think this new guy is so good but the show overall was as funny as ever. ![]() Not watched it for years. As others have said, it's no different to Big Brother, though not quite so vile. |

The best thing about this years show so far is the seemingly genuine enmity between a few of the women.
That Selina is a sly, passive aggressive biatch who is absolutely brilliant at getting the others backs up - I love her little supercilious smile when she thinks she has scored a point - the Joan Allen look-a-like is on the verge of meltdown every time she pipes up. Worryingly for the end game, I haven't a clue who the 'good ones' might be yet, usually it's fairly obvious even this early. A poor bunch. |
|
By:
^ Selina has a lucrative sideline - hiring out a miniature dwarf woman dressed as Lady GaGa, She has a Dubai based events agency Dark Horse. On her Facebook site - suddenly deleted when she was on The Apprentice - she advertises a "little person" who wears fancy dress for clients' amusement. Apparently dwarfs and other small entertainers have become increasingly popular at stag and hen parties.
Dark Horse describes itself as a 'creative production house' and 'Let us know how we can make your event outrageous instead of ordinary' Sounds like a little more than your average events company. Go to Google images and tap in Selina Waterman-Smith.She was a former pupil at Wellington School in Somerset, moved to Egypt in 2008 before going to Dubai where she has been ever since. |

Took your advice HD and can confirm that eye wood.
I knew there was something about that little minx, she obviously enjoys upsetting people....... Trying to decide whether I should waste an hour googling the rest of them now, or have you already done that and can confirm no further items of interest? |
|
By:
Was it last year when teams were asked to buy a skeleton? One of the teams bought a paper one and Sugar said it wasn't acceptable. Should have been the same with the boat this year.
|

By:
Price range for dinghies on google shopping varies from £25 to £350, not including toys.
That is an enormous price range so maybe it depends on the spec the teams were given -- was it supposed to be sea-going? |

"Trying to decide whether I should waste an hour googling the rest of them ....."
No, don't bother, no further interest, recent ones near the top. In her first wk on The Apprentice there was a bit of a backlash on social media when she said she had been a dancer, "You mean stripper / lap dancer". When she entered the show she said she hopes viewers will see her as being serious and passionate. After looking at those pics I'm sure they will love ! ![]() |

^ who ?
|

By:
Selina. She is a sexy little minx. In the words of Partridge: "I'd like to have it off with her".
Love that naughty little smile that she can't hide when she's said something really catty really calmly which winds the others up. Meow. |

By:
You sure that the smile wasn't related to something else and at a different time in the scene??
Editing! |

would you, would you really give any of them £250,000 of your money to partner with them on a business venture?
I presume Sugar's fee is more than £250k and of course he gets lots of free BBC air time and boosts his ego. They said he's worth £1 billion ... that's a lot of Amstrads or whatever he does these days. And why is it still called the Apprentice? Should really be called the Sugar Puff Show. |

His fee goes to Great Ormond Street. |

Why don't they put a phone in the bedroom?
5.30 am ffs |

"Scott needs to be a bit more Ruthless." Could be a hint.

Yes she bigged herself up as a presenter and did the pitch on the shampoo task - but ballsed it up.

Yes she bigged herself up as a presenter and did the pitch on the shampoo task - but ballsed it up. Also been fairly gobby in the boardroom.
|
|
By:
Well that was hardly a surprise she went.
Utterly hopeless. I was right with my conclusion last week. |
|
By:
She deserved it. Bottled the pitch with her fake cough as she didn't want to get exposed again like she did when ballsing up her pitch a couple of weeks back.
Team leader should not have taken Brett in - he did nothing wrong this week. The fittie should have been in - did a deal for 50 books immediately when they discarded 150 (what's wrong with trying for 125 or 100?) and then sold lots of books at the end for £1.90 or so. I'm sure where she did the deal for 50 she also said they could have 150 at £4-odd a unit or 50 for £3-odd a unit - this was never picked up in the boardroom so wondering if I imagined it but other half thought she heard the same - if so that is an utter shocker. You can have a preferential rate if you buy less from us. |

Days ago, not weeks. You're Fired is recorded on the Monday of the week it is broadcast. |
|
By:
You're Fired audience tickets can be had from:
http://www.sroaudiences.com/application.asp?show_id=1578 I've never been but my understanding is that TV shows typically overbook so even with tickets, you need to get there early. |
|
By:
Why would anybody want to be in the audience and watch this drivel?
Unless the BBC gives you a handful of fivers from hard working familes' licence money. |

Isn't "hard working families" a Tory party soundbite? You are Baroness Brady and I claim my five pounds. ![]() |

Ram...
Well done. In the day I'm a hard working business women who says vacuous things. At night I am a business women who gets paid by the BBC to say vacuous things. Last night I outed Nicola? (the blonde woman) and told Lord Sugar that she was truly dreadful with her pitch to the book shop people. WTF ...we all saw that and presumably Sugar saw it. Is he ******** her, or is she Jewish like his other sidekick - who's also useless? |
|
By:
Are you adverse to Jewish people on the box ?
|
|
By:
It's averse and no I'm not particularly.
What I'm averse to is untalented people who are paid by my licence fee. And my question re Jewishness was prompted by the big puff being given when Claude Littner (?) joined and his and Alan Sugar's Jewish faith were bigged up. Look it up. That's all. |
|
By:
Karren Brady's not Jewish.
You should have a word with Alan Sugar on Twitter but he doesn't take too kindly to having his spelling mistakes pointed out. |
|
By:
Karen Brady not Jewish Nick, does Alan know

Apparently, they're lining Alan Yentob up for the next series, given his obvious qualifications and experience ... err ...
Big in the BBC Consummate businessman - big player in the Kids Company and gave assurances that the financial management was sound (I know that the fly-by-night accountants said not following their investigation, but what would they know) Can't think ofanything else |
