I was watching a documentary about guns in America the other week. So sad, many young children killed every year.

There are several hundred million guns in America today, insane.

I hate to cheap shots at america but their attitude to guns can be summed up by the incident a year ago when they gave a little kid an uzi to shoot on a shooting range, she couldn't control it (duh), and shot the "instructor" in the head. He's dead, she's mentally scarred for life.

Senior pastor just been on the news.
He was speaking sense about the grief and giving testimony until he completely let himself down at the end.
He said that the president had been vocal about the problem for the last few years......and that he (the pastor ffs) believed in the second amendment and if those kids had been armed they could have fired back.

My understanding is the right was more to do with the right to form militias to defend individual areas and states and the wording has been corrupted to mean the individual, and was originally out of liberal thinking and the balance between the people and big government. The distrust of big government is still big there, rightly so. They may have stupid gun laws but they must laugh at us for having a p*ss stain like Corbyn as the main opposition, that's one of our national embarassments, nobody is perfect.

Actually the real problem is some people have guns and some don't

At things like campuses I am afraid there must be gun trained personal available at all times, with weapons

Immediately someone can fire back everything changes, there needs to be gun drill as as well as fire drills for students

Safe areas need to be made available.

Unless they abolish the 2nd Amendment this is what they must do.

There was a gun drill just last week at that school but only for the teachers, surprise surprise.

Some of the vids you can find are beyond horrendous, including the young girl with the Uzi, and a kid left on his own, on an indoor range,
who shot and killed someone walking down the range, inspecting targets, with no marshall in control!

The scariest moment I had was shooting on an indoor TA range, with six of us at our individual shooting positions.

A power cut plunged us into complete blackness.

Here lay the difference between the casual way that some treat these weapons, and the discipline of an organised club.

The marshall instructed all to place their guns on the tables and stand back.

Fortunately the blackout was only for, maybe 30 seconds, but it highlighted how dangerous an uncontrolled situation can be.

There are always security drills just before or on the day of these type of events.

school shootings here includes suicides, drive by shootings, gang activity, basically any shooting within the vicinity of a school, a statistic for the gullible.

as for most mass shootings, they are generally carried out (statistically speaking) by atheists, liberal democrats, and those taking prescribed medications, so the stereotype of right wing southern gun nuts is also a media construct. also most gun murders are (statistically speaking) carried out by blacks and hispanics. The new laws that obama is pushing would have prevented almost none of these killings, his own state which has strict gun laws has one of the worst murder rates, mass shootings occur in gun free areas in states with tight gun laws.
so it's a tragic situation which is being exploited to get votes and there's no real desire for a solution.
as there are millions of guns already, and many illegal and in criminal hands, the question becomes should citizens be entitled to be legally armed also.

one answer is to reduce crime through programs like stop and frisk, reduce social division and fear, but they have all gotten much worse in the past few years, while guns numbers have increased.
the media is also accountable for glamourising gun and drug use and social division while at the same time preaching when some some psycho wannabe like this latest protege does exactly what they encourage.

when 3 muslims were shot (by an obama supporter) in chapel hill during a parking dispute - obama: nobody should be targeted for their faith.

I actually think these appalling incidents are a symptom of what is happening in American society

actually suicides count for around 20,000, the number of homicides is around 10,000 annually (some by illegal immigrants so not technically by"other americans"), the stat also doesn't differentiate self defence or justified police shootings (eg garland or ferguson), or illegal international groups like the sinaloa cartel based in 12 us states.*
as for those killed by terrorists you would have to include most of the armed forces and private contractors killed in action in the mid east as the combatants are neither representatives of nation states nor signatories to international conventions, roughly 4000 depending how you count them.
also the stat is deliberately skewed by avoiding 9/11 which dramatically changes the annual average while the gun stat is fairly constant annually.

a more honest stat would read

Number of Americans killed by terrorists in the last 20 years: around 10,000
Number of Americans killed with guns in the US in the last 20 years including justifiable homicide: around 200,000*

still seems a big difference given all the fuss about isis and whatnot? turns out isis and other terrorist groups are based in the mid east, deaths in the current syria conflict alone are over 250,000 in around 3 years.

Arming people wouldnt help, these nutters generally kill themselves or get shot by police in the end anyway.

If you look at the nearly 800 comments below the video (which is on  CNN's YouTube channel) most people are  saying that this Oregon shooting is  just another hoax and that the Crisis Actors are getting even worse , well I never.

a hoax shooting makes no sense as it would be much easier to stage the shooting than to stage a hoax shooting, which is not to say either is the case.

Their is no political will to ban any guns in the USA. Sandyhook should have been a watershed but their was no will to even ban automatic assault rifles. The NRA have to much clout and are giving sweeteners all over the place. The horse has bolted and their is no turning back. It seems the mass school shooting's are on average about one ever six months. However their are other's that go unreported over here as the are on a smaller scale.

Access to gun's is the problem. If you are angry, depressed etc in most countries you can't easily get you hands on weapons to do mass damage. Over in the USA once your 18 with a clean record you can. And it doesn't even take that in some states as gun fairs are very lax. USA won't change and we will have another shooting probably by next march.
