What on earth is going on.Surely the British army should be deployed at machine gun posts to prevent an enemy invasion.Shooting a few will concentrate minds pretty quickly and within days the problem will be resolved.

I don't see why, if they want the British lifestyle, they are not all shipped to the Falkland Islands while their eligibility to live over here is processed. It must be winter over there now, so they will soon be begging to go back to their original homeland. A bonus to this idea, is that it may put off the Argies from wanting the Falkland islands back. Everyones a winner, as far as I can see.

Just set up a prison camp near Calais then start deporting them using DNA to choose likely country of origin.

The French wouldnt take kindly to seeing British soldiers on their soil
unless of course the Germans invade again.

isn't the uk border now on the calais side of the tunnel?
instead of only xraying all lorries at quiet times every single vehicle should be checked until situation is sorted
plenty tasers and water cannons would help as well.

Once they get here there is an industry making money out of
them, e.g. we pay lawyers to get them sent back and we also
pay lawyers to appeal their cases.
My solution would be to send them all to the Isle of Man.

The European Commission on Tuesday told France to investigate whether the theme park is unfairly rigging prices, pointing out that in some cases, for the same premium package, French consumers will pay €1,346 while British visitors are charged €1,870 and Germans €2,447.

It may not be long

Truly incredible scenes at Calais. What on earth are the police playing at? Why the ridiculous soft approach? The people trying to get here illegally are CRIMINALS.

Some 'Battle of the Beanfield' style policing LONG overdue.

Can't be long before ISIS get their act together and use a bomber disguised as wannabe-Migrant to take a bomb to the mouth of the Euro-Tunnel and explode it as a train passes.

Comments here are encouraging.

The extraordinary thing is no one asks these migrants whats so terrible about France.

The French are aiding them in their efforts to break the law.

Your governments response is to give Calais 12 million, this is madness.

They are only 'illegal immigrants' when they are trying to board lorries etc , . Once they are actually here their rights as asylum seekers trump any questions about how they got here.

Look at those Afghans years ago that hijacked a plane at gunpoint to get to Britain....once they'd served their jail time they couldn't be deported as their human rights would have been jeopardised and they are still living here as far as I know.So no one is gonna be sent back to Syria because they sneaked in the back of a lorry.

Nothing to do with the French, as they have pointed out many times the immigrants want to get to Britain for the benefits, housing etc

They are already "illegal immigrants" to France so should be detained in detention camps before expulsion from Europe.

The ones that have fled their countries for protection.  Why are they not protected in Italy and france where they landed.
Why do they have to come here for protection. What is wrong with other countries protecting them.

Many of the others are simply economic migrants.

Simply - you are not welome here - go back to your own country - we don't need or want you.  Goodness knows what will happen if any of them are daesh and successfully set off bombs.

Can you imagine this happening this side of the channel? hundreds of men walking about on the motorways carrying knifes and breaking into vehicles night after night after night....and the police doing nothing about it? would never happen, this is on French soil so it's a French problem, I don't know why they don't make there way to Sweden, they have an even more generous welfare state and take people quite freely, more so than us.

That's a disgraceful post from wit- ham,you are giving them ideas.

Surely you will eventually get it,they all know you are a soft touch, armies of legal people ( that ye pay for ) waiting on them hand and foot, free medical treatment and a lovely house in London for them after a few years.

Emergency cabinet meeting today but fact is they dont know what to do
so expect status quo ie the migrants get through in ones and two and
sometimes even more, thus there is no public outcry which there would
be if they send over buses a la sangattte agreement.

A well positioned sniper tower and high powered rifle cost a lot less than the £7m the goverment are about to spend for security.Would only need to shoot about a dozen to get the message through.

This is anecdotal I'll admit, but I have family in France, who work there, and they actually get more benefits over there, but only if you're French, certainly not if you're non EU.

But the employment laws are very strict. They own a restaurant that is open during the summer only. They have to pay their staff for the whole year! Even when they're shut for winter!

If they are genuine asylum seekers why dont they apply for it in France and when successful  they would be free to go anywhere in the EU.

We should ask the French if they'll pay us a suitable sum for a role swap, or let us have some free electricity that they export so much of.
Put a bit of France on our side of the tunnel and fence them in there. They'd have to pay to cross of course but they couldn't claim asylum in the UK because they wouldn't be in the UK.
£££s all round.

The way the media uses the term 'migrants' annoys me.

A migrant is someone who follows due process to pass from one country to another.

A criminal is someone who breaks into a lorry to covertly cross a border.

It's another nail in the EU experiment. Passports not required to travel from Italy to France. Thankfully we still insist on them for people coming here.

UK border force on the Calais side are more interested in tobacco smugglers sometimes stopping shopping coach trips for over 4 hours while "Europeans" walk thru waving their ID cards. Those that check the lorries on either side of the tunnel or ferry are mainly agency workers wearing UK Border force hi vis vests,a lot of this is down to constant government cuts in border force personnel and the governments attitude to loss of revenue from tobacco sales in the UK,IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY. I'm a frequent traveler between the UK and France and have witnessed the lax attitude towards European travelers and spoken with UK border force officers who have told me of the quotas they are expected to achieve from UK citizens shopping abroad,I defy any of you to travel to Belgium or France and tell a customs officer you have been shopping and see how long your detained and questioned for.

They are NOT illegal immigrants, they are undocumented citizens! Desist from racist opinion!

An authorised dentist/cat angry zone has been set up, refrain from this non permitted activity or risk prosecution.
