Having said that, a lot of hypocrits on here, who eat meat from animals kept no doubt in atrocious conditions. Concentrate on the full picture of animal cruelty. |

Animal rights fanatics are are often violent and disturbed individuals.
Often, although not always, their hysterical anger comes from the animal instinct to attack someone where they see a weakness. If this is someone from a different country, or class so much the better. Animal pain and suffering has gone on for millions of tears, it is intrinsic to the natural world. It is a tricky one regards the fact hardly any of us are vegetarians, but I think it is more about the camaraderie of hating the individual for his attitude and the schadenfraude respect his naming and shaming. Right now we all think you're a bit of a **** too and I wouldn't be totally against the lynch mob metality if it brings chitchat together against the common enemy.

There is an argument that humans shouldn't be eating meat at all and live on seeds and beans.
The reality is that the diet has evolved with humanity and to suggest killing for necessity is the same as killing as a 'sport' or pleasure time activity is wrong. Animals deserve to be kept properly in farms (and not kicked around like those birds were at Bernard Mathews) |

Reporters are working to confirm the horrifying details of Cecil's death. Here's what sources are saying: this month an American dentist named Walter James Palmer used bait to lure Cecil out of the park, then shot him with a bow and arrow. Cecil spent hours alive and wounded before the hunters found him, killed him and beheaded him.
Wildlife researcher Dr. Andrew Loveridge says that Cecil and another male lion named Jericho led two prides with a dozen young cubs – and now that Cecil is gone, Jericho won't be able to protect them all and the cubs will likely die. The authorities are investigating the case, but even though Palmer admits he killed Cecil, he might not be punished for this awful murder because he paid the government $55,000 for a hunting permit. Lion populations have dwindled by 92% in the last 30 years, in large part due to poaching and hunting. It's outrageous that the government of Zimbabwe is still encouraging people to purchase permits to hunt lions for sport. |

The fact that lions are an endangered species makes it much worse, imo. Bullfighting is disgusting, for example, but at least the cow is unlikely to face extinction in the near future.
