Is it just me or is there a problem with letting people go to Syria to fight for ISIS?
Better to have them over there, where we are technically fighting them and they might get blasted by an air strike, then stay in the UK and commit some horrendous act of terrorism here? Of course, it's the letting them back in' that's the critical issue in the above scenario - perhaps it's time to address that? |

Have the Metropolitan Police declared them 'innocent' yet (without carrying out anything as ungentlemanly as an investigation), and told them 'they are not in any trouble' ?
That is the usual procedure in such cases as I understand it. I'm guessing that Parliament is also already rolling out the red carpet in readiness for the family to lecture us that "it's all Britain's fault'. |

i would contribute to a plane if anymore want to go...1 way of course.

Who gives a flying fook. Just don't let them come back into this country. I'm fed up with all this nonsense getting broadcasted. BBC headline "Feared missing"
By:
"Feared" to be in Syria according to the BBC.
Why "feared"? I for one couldn't give a monkey's. |
By:
Indeed Kriskin.
By:
The BBC likes to pretend that all of our citizens are fully integrated peace-lovig sorts and standing shoulder-to-shoulder against the terrorists.

It's coming to a stage that the ordinary British person who in the past didn't care about certain things have now had enough of this religion.
By:
wish the government would put a advert in the papers asking if people want to go to syria let them all fck off
By:
Nice to see some good news for once.
By:
More should be encouraged to go as a way of reducing the welfare budget.

Were they straight A students and deeply religious ... and peace loving?
Probably gone to Syria for a bit of a break, heaven knows we all could do with a break from time to time ... probably got a good all-inclusive deal, as Syria's not a popular tourist destination - although can be lovely and sunny in July. I'm not worried about them. |
By:
let them go........hope more follow suit........i am more concerned this dopey government dont let them come back
By:
Yup, it's the letting them come back afterwards that concerns me
If they want to go, let them go with an goodbye wave.....then let them stay out there |
By:
I think it is rather nice that a family can go off on holiday together like that.
By:
I hope it's an all inclusive - could get a bit pricey for family of 12 otherwise.
By:
good riddance.

Britain's Home Office has famously excluded many individuals from entering the country, often ridiculously so.
Why on earth it would allow Wannabe Jihadists to return is beyond belief. 'Newsnight' reported earlier this week that the numbers known to have gone to Syria from the UK have deliberately been under-reported by the authorities. (There's a surprise). That's just the KNOWN ones of course. Do we have any figures for the numbers of Muslims in Britain who have left these shore to FIGHT AGAINST Islamic State? You know, the people who have apparently besmirched "a great peaceful religion'*. (*Copyright Dumbo Politicians). Any? |
By:
for the life of me I cant understand why anyone would be let back in,THEY ARE TRAITORS!!
By:
It doesnt make any sense, if a british person decided to join the germans in WWII he would not be allowed back, im pretty sure IS are an enemy of the UK.
By:
and if did come back they would be hung simple as that
By:
Delighted with the news
Providing all benefits have been severed and they are refused re entry. Surely there are plenty of otherS who want to join them we could have A WHIP ROUND FOR TRANSPORT. |
By:
GREAT NEWS
By:
Enough of this "they were brainwashed" nonsense.
They know exactly what they're getting involved in. As pointed out above, defectors to Nazi Germany would have treated as traitors not misguided folk who were taken in by Nazi propaganda. |
By:
I don't have any insight as to why whole families would go to Syria. I am sure that this also applies to most other forumites. The young men I can understand. They are going for the excitement and the feeling of belonging to a like-minded group. The chance to kill people. It's only the same as young lads lying about their age to join up in WW1 and many others.
The family situation, especially when it involves children, is more difficult to grasp. BUT, unlike most residents of the UK, they feel strongly enough about their ideals to actually do something about it. And for that they deserve respect. I'm fairly sure that few posters will take the time to concern themselves with that, prior to issuing the usual abuse. |
By:
that's because you are wrong
By:
we all know what these nutters are capable of,
we"ve seen it on tv,we"ve seen it in the papers, so how on earth would anybody want to take themselves and even worse young children to join evil? respect? don't talk ****ing sh1t. |
By:
Sorry Naydam but I cannot respect anyone just on the basis of the strength of their beliefs, if those beliefs are barbaric and inhuman.
These people - the adults that is, the children have no say and are collateral damage in this whole tragic issue - deserve no respect whatsoever; entirely the opposite IMO. |
By:
I could have respect for them if they had gpme home and fought against IS, but to have respect them for joining IS is just goddam crazy.
By:
Respect for adhering to, and acting upon, their principles regardless of personal danger. It is not necessary for you to agree but your response doesn't fit the points I was making. I assume you gave it no consideration prior to replying.
They are acting in accordance with their beliefs. |
By:
Do you 'respect' the savages who killed Lee Rigby then Naydam?
By:
They are going to be in big trouble for this.....taking the kids out of school in term time.
By:
If it was their 'beliefs' to kill all infidels then they shouldn't be in a western country anyway..!
By:
naydam just loves to be contrary.
He'd be able to put a positive spin on Nazi gas chambers. |
By:
It's not a question of respect for adhering to ones principles.
It's the worth of those principles in the first place. You 'respect' away my friend. I think they are the scum of the earth |
By:
The BBC reporting of these "holiday breaks " is nothing short of pathetic, why is it headline news when "disenchanted" people wish to leave ?
I could understand it if they wish to stop them to get the straitjackets securely fastened because anyone wishing to travel to Syria has to be a total nutjob. |
By:
throwing gays off roof tops bit harsh, but you dont have to go that far back to find gays getting the shoite kicked out of them on our streets, the soho bomb attacks on the gay community, abortion and the catholic church, white supremisists, kkk in the us,norway island attacks,we call them savages etc but we,re not 100,s of years in front of them

We are when it comes to deodorant
By:
what i dont get is
if there are 1000,s of these people willing to die ,why arnt there one of these attacks everyday, theres no skill or training needed to go into a crowded area and open fire on innocent people, anybody likeminded who was prepared to die could do it tomorrow |
