Darcy Oake, the illusionist earlier on ITV

Takes his wallet and places it on a table which is in full view of the audience of several hundred at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

Fires 8 plastic torpedo shaped missiles from a gun, into various parts of the audience.  You can see many hands reaching out to catch each missile after it's been fired.

Then he asks each member of the audience who caught a  missile, to call out a double digit number.

So the numbers called out are in order, 34 27 13 67 11 24 66 50

Then he asks the host of the show, Christine Bleakley (seems to be on everything) to walk over to the wallet which has not been touched, and take out his credit card and read out the number.

Of course the 16 digit card number matches exactly the numbers called out by the audience.

He would have needed about 100 plants in the audience I reckon.

One can often apply the law of parsimony to feats of this nature, Kenny.  If he required one hundred shills in the audience to perform the trick, then that's probably what he had.

Yes indeed, Poker'. Can't think of any other explanation.

But he'd have to be accurate with his missile shooting otherwise the tricks fooked.

As it begins with a 3 we all know it's an Amex card which only has 15 digits. If he can't even be bothered to get this right he is clearly a charlatan. Throw him in jail.

My guess would be that he is extremely accurate with his toy gun, and he has plenty of plants in the audience.

Yes, can't really be any other answer.

I'd say they quickly printed the credit card after he'd called out the numbers.

That's were the illusion would have occurred, getting card into the wallet on the table.

I perform a trick in my pool exhibitions whereby fifty-two playing cards are scattered face up on the bed of the table.  A second (unopened) deck is then placed on the rail.  I ask a random member of the audience to strike the cueball around the table at a speed of their choosing and we wait to see where it comes to rest.  Whichever card the white stops closest to is deemed to be the punter's chosen card.  If the ball goes in a pocket then it's the card closest to that pocket.  I then open the sealed deck to reveal one card is turned upside down.  Both cards are a match.

How is it done?

Yes Dr, the TV audience didn't see it not being touched, but the audience would have. Clever stuff.

As Barry says 34 (and 37 for that matter) is only Amex.  Can't possibly have a genuine card from another issuer company with numbers beginning with those two digits. Hth.

There are some amazing gizmos available nowadays.  I wouldn't be surprised if one could purchase some sort of mechanised card that presents any number one likes via remote control.

I remember seeing a trick on tv but had no idea how it was done, just looked for the youtube video and found it after a fashion, says channel 5 have blocked it in my country on copyright grounds, if anyone can view it have a guess, at least I think this is the video/trick as I can't view itAngry https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu4PLlgzvPk

My guess is that it's a pack of nearly 52 of the same card. Maybe one or 2 spares which are 'known' by the magician, which are different.

I do not know how the trick is done that Kenny asks about, I do know that it is nothing to do with any plant in the audience tho, it will be something to do with the wallet or the table the wallet is placed upon would be my guess.

Have you ever seen the trick where there is a metal box in full view of the audience for the whole show, Derron Brown for example has the box suspended 25 feet above the stage until he brings it down just before ending the show, a small table is brought on stage and the box gets lowered onto the table, a volunteer from the audience is brought up to open the box, there is a cylinder inside, open the cylinder and there is a scroll inside, the audience member holds one end of the scroll and Derron Brown walks across the stage revealing  what is written on the scroll, it is facts about what has happened on the show that night, things that could not possibly have been known before the show.

The box has been empty the whole show, backstage during the show someone writes on the scroll what is happening during the show, this scroll gets placed inside the cylinder, this cylinder gets placed inside a hidden compartment in the table that was taken on stage upon which the box is placed, placing the box on the table gets the cylinder inside the box through the fake bottom of the box.

I also enjoy a bit of magic sir, here's one for you, a Victorian masterpiece.

A magician comes on stage carrying a circular tripod table, which he places at the front of the stage in full view of the audience.

He invites two men from the audience to come up on stage.

A stage hand pushes out a flat barrow with a statue of a dog on it, with two chains attached for lifting purposes.

The two audience members are told to lift the dog on to the table, and remove the chains.

They do so with a bit of effort, and then one of them is asked to place a bell jar over the top of the statue.

The bell jar is covered with a cloth, and the magician proceeds to do a few other magic tricks.

After 15 minutes or so, he invites a woman from the audience to come and lift the cover from the bell jar. The audience applaud, and  as the magician lifts the bell jar, it can be seen that the statue of the dog has completely vanished.

How was it done?

Note:
I posted this on here a good few years ago, but nobody had the answer.
Today, there may be somebody lurking who remembers it.

I don't know how that is done, at a guess I would say the dog is actually still inside the bell jar? bit like when they make the elephant or a tank disappear.

I could make a coin disappear from under a bell jar but I guess that's not so impressive Sad
