Fascinating to see where I am. Grey cloud everywhere. Extraordinary, almost looks like… about 9.30am yesterday when it was also cloudy.

I'm covering The Completely Bright Day Solar Eclipse 20/3/2015 from here in Wales.

Well, how was it for you?  I personally felt humbled, the whole thing was awe-inspiring. Insert another cliche here.

I can hardly wait for the next one in 2090.

A short distance from our house a large group of men had gathered together to watch it beside a field where some teenage schoolgirls were playing a hockey match. These men were a bit daft in my opinion because not one of them had brought those special viewing glasses you have to wear to protect your eyes.

As expected in God's Own, our Maker provided for us a rare glorious morning in order that his chosen people could see his work in it's full majesty. Barely a cloud sullied the sky.
And from this position of near perfect viewing conditions, I can confirm that it was a bit sh1t, distinctly underwhelming.

I wont bother getting out of bed next time.

I got to see it in the end but with no special glasses. My eyes got adjusted but it was very bright and I'm sure I'll suffer from Welders blindness. I stood beside an old man I know and I saved his sight. As we were watching it behind the clouds, we were discussing how hard it was to see anything... "I'll go and get my binoculars" was his response! I wonder how many daft feckers thought as he did and done damage to their eyes today. Thankfully I persuaded him it was a bad idea

1999 was a much better eclipse but it was a bigger % covered, guess that's why it didn't go dark although I noticed a dimming in brightness.

I was speaking to a guy from Faroe Island and he said it was spectacular. Seeing a total eclipse is on my bucket list and I'd like to see one even more now. There's one in 2 years that tranverses the whole of the US but the 2026 is total in Benidorm. Fancy a week on the Costas

There's also one in 2027 visible in Egypt and totality is about 6 minutes - near the maximum it can be.

what a waste of an hour. absolute sh1t it was. It didn't even get dark. All these arseh0les on twitter saying how humbling it is. Bunch of sheep, it was sh1te, just admit it !!!

they should have these eclipses later in the year imo when the weather is more reliable

think you had to be right up in the Faroes tbf ,London was always a non runner .

Total Eclipse of the Moon to look forward to later in the year although it's well past Chit Chatters bed time.
