bring back capital punishment for murder, if you carry a knife, you are out to kill someone, 10 years mandatory .

I understand it was a group of youngsters that were attacked. Why aren't the police putting out descriptions. Don't try to tell me the survivors didn't see the three men that attacked them!!!

Nothing to do with turf wars......they just outnumber and intimidate who they perceive as weaker and steal their belongings . Been happening for ages in London . Know a couple of women who had their bikes stolen in a similar manner. Two of them mistakenly tried to nick my mates bike . He battered the first one who put his hands on the bike and then rode after the other but couldn't catch him......they are cowards , hope they catch them and they get life...

The problem with knives is people do not display them do they Unless you do stop and search, then how can anyone know if anyone else have a knife???? But if the police do stop and search too often, that creates problems of it self |

There is a school of thought which says these people who do such things tend to come from broken homes, they didn't get enough bitty, blah blah blah blah blah. Prison is an expensive business. Birch em.

The more vindictive our punishments become, the more it tells me our society is failing. Our society has become incredibly vicious in all sorts of ways compared to say the 1960's and 1970's. Young men were aggressive all right then, it is what young men do, but nothing like the use of knives now. It is societies values which are failing I feel, the disintegration of our society, many causes, I wont go into here. |

Instead of providing this scum with benefits for being able bodied but too lazy to work, chop off their hands and provide them with benefits for being unable to work. Unless they are particularly adept with their feet, they won't be knifing anyone ever again! I though a Dude as Shrewd as yourself would of worked that one out!

The law states that people are allowed to defend themselves with EQUAL force. If there is more of a danger of being knifed by a s****, then normal law abiding members of the public should be able to carry knives.

Mr Dude- you are wrong. The Law in the UK permits defence using equal force! If someone breaks into your house and attacks you with a knife you are permitted to defend yourself with a knife. You are not expected to present yourself to the burglar so he can kill you.

According to the BBC, the police now have CCTV footage of the attack.
It was originally by 3 men, now it's 3 youths. If they want them apprehended a.s.a.p why not make the footage public? |

Check the law on Self defence Slicer. There is no such thing as equal force in relation to self defence in the UK. It is reasonable force that is a requirement of self defence which is very much different from equal force.

No jury will convict if you use equal force because equal force is reasonable force! It is unreasonable to use a knife against an unarmed. But perfectly reasonable to defend with a knife against a knife. The attacked have human rights as well you know!

The reason British law says reasonable force is because the force used does not have to be equal..but can be greater and still reasonable.
