Clouseau, you have encapsulated everything " about cover your own arse" politics, but have failed to mention self promotion and aggrandisement of the politicians "of the day" involved. Very convienient, OR NOT. How naive are you.

Now there is an opportunity. Could we get that oil under current market prices? You see there is always good in someone!!!
People like Clouseau are right. If we could have cornered the slave market in WW11. Lots of poles, jews, etc only too glad to have some work - think of the profits we could have got with a deal with Mr Hilter from minehead. You know it makes sense. |

Where does Khalid Abdullah fit into all this. I just love the pink hats he makes his jockeys wear.

Also Fahd Salman and Ahmed Salman - they were terrific owners.

To borrow your analogy moisok, during WW2 we could have told the Yanks we didn't need their food and resources and troops because we didn't agree with their brutal segregation of coloured people and Stalin could poke it too. However, sometimes needs must.

If only western politicians would stop putting the likes of North Korea, Syria & Zimbabwe on the naughty step then their sucking up to the new mafia don in Saudi wouldn't be so nauseating.

It is coming here soon I mean, it is already here, planted in the nation's bosom, but get used to it because you will have to follow. |

Earlier, he had been taken out for a trial in a building on "Chop-Chop Square", the notorious location of Riyadh's public beheadings. The trial lasted 10 minutes. The chief prosecutor was Ibrahim, the man who had been his chief torturer. The judges asked Mr Mitchell if he had confessed to the bombing. He tried to explain that he had been tortured - they dismissed that, and announced his punishment: crucifixion, then partial beheading, after which his body would be left out to rot in public.
Mitchell was anaesthetic technician from Glasgow . http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/4196147/They-will-burn-in-hell-for-what-they-have-done-to-me.html |

If only western politicians would stop putting the likes of North Korea, Syria & Zimbabwe on the naughty step then their sucking up to the new mafia don in Saudi wouldn't be so nauseating. Yeah, let's put the whole world, including ourselves, on the naughty step, shall we... get real! |
|
By:
The people that need to 'get real' are the hypocrites who have one rule for one and one rule for another in the name of short term national interest. The blowback from these actions is getting worse and worse and will one day spiral out of control. The current Western strategy will not end well for us.
The alternative as far as the Saudis is concerned is to invest in energy storage but too many people at the top make too much money from oil - yet more short-termism. |

Agreed.
Our so-called well held "principles" have been bought off by the mafia dons in Saudi. |

You may have noticed a few things about the region. Would you prefer a completely unstable region? Sometimes, in the real world, countries have to be pragmatic. Saudi produces about 14% of the world's oil. If you want to keep the lights on and your central heating working and your buses and trains and air-planes and your little run-around, in fact pretty much everything that gets produced in the world, including your computer and your mobile phone, running then best keep them onside. So ehat can you produce from oil that you can't make from coal? |
