Yes I'd agree that is the basic principle, but if you are born into a Muslim family, and you wish to leave the Islamic faith, that basic principle is a walking contradiction.  It's that level of fear and control that leads to the inevitable exploitation of power and subsequent violence, by those individuals in that faith with psychopathic tendencies.

I always seem to hear Islamic leaders denouncing violence, but I never seem to hear them talk about personal freedoms and social acceptance.

It's not only Islam that works this way.  It's the way all religion works and has worked throughout the ages.  It's a sliding scale of fear and control amongst all religions and in the same religion in different countries.

If you try to leave Islam then they class you as an Apostate and have the right to kill you.

They do this to maintain control....they don't want everyone suddenly realising they are in an evil cult and leaving.

What i cant understand, is why the peaceful Muslims arent taking more responsibility for the ones who are radicalised, and sort them out. Cant they "police" their own people so to speak. This is only going to get worse and wrorse.

A religion based on a murdering peadophile who heard voices is bound to attract nutters, Mohammed would be sanctioned if he were alive today.

I think its also written in the bible that they have the right to kill you if you leave the faith.  Think (the original version) advocates the butchering of others

It wasn't so long ago that you could be burnt at the stake for heresy. When religions have power they show their nasty side.

In the long term this butchering could be a good thing as all the publicity just highlights the madness of ancient religious beliefs and will speed up the move into atheism in Europe.

It's god's fault that 12 people were killed by these fanatics. A proper god would have stopped them being so antisocial.

A Saudi Arabian court has sentenced a Palestinian poet to death for apostasy, abandoning his Muslim faith, according to trial documents seen by Human Rights Watch, its Middle East researcher Adam Coogle said on Friday.

Ashraf Fayadh was detained by the country's religious police in 2013 in Abha, in southwest Saudi Arabia, and then rearrested and tried in early 2014.

The verdict of that court sentenced him to four years in prison and 800 lashes but after appeal another judge passed a death sentence on Fayadh three days ago, said Coogle.

"I have read the trial documents from the lower court verdict in 2014 and another one from 17 November. It is very clear he has been sentenced to death for apostasy," Coogle said.

the west constantly assumes that the revisionism, cherry picking and allegorical interpretations which have been applied to modern christianity can also happen with Islam, that there can be some sort of modernist Islam.

The new testament was an account of a man's life written, at best, at least 100 years after he died based on hearsay, as well as some letters based on supposed revelations. Parts of it are fundamentally at odds with the Old Testament. There's lot of scope for extracting different messages.

The Quran, on the other hand, is the word of god, spoken directly to Mohammamed. There is no scope for revisionism.

(although given this, I've always wondered about the strict interpretation of hadiths, if they were so important wouldn't god have included them in his book?)

Something missing. To a good muslim it is also the Law. It also tells them how to live. Even to what you should let your woman wear (or not) when she rides her bicycle.

If we insist Israel has a right to exist, then we are also subscribing to a religion

That is the only claim they have to Israel, no other, other than by Military Conquest

When I was younger we were taught to hate communism, if we got rid of it, the World be a better place

Well we did, in fact the Soviet Union dissolved itself.....so are we now a peaceful World?

Well actually no, because we promptly found another enemy Islam, so say we get rid of Islam

Do you think we would have a peaceful World?.....my guess is no, we would just find somebody else to hate

Something to think about that is all

Is it not somewhat contradictory that the jihadis want to take us all back to medieval times and such an existence with their beliefs & yet use modern technology and armaments to achieve these goals

I don't think they would get very far with swords and spears do youCrazy

I don't think they want to take us back to medieval times, they wished to be left in peace in their own societies, which the West

has not done

fair comment, but he came from a Christian society, in fact few of us are Christians, but we are extremely violent

20 Oct 2011 - The upshot of the analysis is that Hitler was originally Catholic, but stopped attending mass at age 15

He tolerated religion that was all, he wrote against the Catholic Church in Mein Kampf, I have not read it

NO I have not, of course they have a right to exist, but not in Israel, they left nearly 2000 years ago, their

claim had lapsed

It is only their religious belief Judaism that said it is their home, nothing else

I thought we went to war with god on our side(bush/blair) but not based on any bible instruction. Supposedly coz the A rabs where going to spread chemicals all over us (a Lie)
Whereas muslims operate according to their book - after all for a good muslim it is THE LAW.

And it was to get control of oil anyway.

before anyone starts on these issues you have to understand where muslims and muslim nations are coming from

read their book and subsequent haddiths  apart from being at war with the west they are at war with themselves

readings on jihad within oneself and then, with other muslims makes torturous and confusing reading  - no wonder they are in a mess!!!

then read on about jihad with kuffur, and what to do with them -   most enlightening

hitlerism and its rise is an apt example - it shows how an ideology can conquer perceived weakness  - rather similar to the burgeoning hegemony we are now seeing with islam

these fkn defenders of the faith give me the creeps
