All I want to do is live an uncomplicated life from A to B (or death as we call it)That in itself has its own trials and it really is depressing to hear of murder,persecution,massacre in the name of a philosophy that has as much resonance as the fables of Harry Potter.

Over 40 years ago I read a book by Pastor Wurmbrand and how he had suffered because of his faith.
One wee part in it caused me concern and it was along the lines of Gods Love. Immediately the Aberfan disaster came into my mind, it had been a few years previously, and I thought how could a loving god put so many families through this much misery. 144 died, a figure which included 116 children, when a coal tip moved and engulfed a school. Even to this day I get quite emotional when I recall it. |

I remember Aberfan well, Akabula, and the shock of it throughout the country.
Don't want to turn this into a philosophical debate but I can't hold God responsible for every catastrophe, every disaster, every natural, or man-made, devastation, or to bring it down to the mundane level, every bit of bad luck that befalls anybody. IMO he isn't a bearded bloke in the sky cracking off bolts of lightning with his fingertip. He may have created us but can't be responsible for everything that happens. |

BTW I'm talking organised religion here.
Something must drive the universe whether it be a 'god' or something like Mother Nature for example. I also don't think there is anything wrong with trying to live a 'Christian' life. In that respect it doesn't really matter if Jesus was real or fictional as long as you follow his example or at least that as described. |

I think that this american guy is maybe connected to Ashley but I also think the King camp will win the day. King will ask for an egm tomorrow which will stall any move by Ashley or the yank. And if King does get in they will go to court to get all the commercial deals quashed. |

I was 16 when Aberfan happened and I remember fighting back tears when they were giving us the number of fatalities. To respond to the point that god can't be held responsible for what happens that's my issue. I was brought up to believe that god was omnipresent and everything was gods will. This is what I believe is rubbish. If there is a god then he has created us and left us to get on with it, nothing else makes sense. |
