I think getting behind liberal secular, progressive ideas - trade union representation, women and gay rights, more liberal licensing laws, decriminalising of some drug groups, the freedom of the press, state support for the arts etc - together with an unapologetic stance on the great things the West have given the world (functioning legal systems, civil service, taxation and representation) is the way forward.

Be prepared to say our way of life is not only different, it is BETTER than the murderous Islamic fascism these savages want to foist on us.

i dont get this 24 hr media and c list celebs banging on about free speech
the uk are always dragging trolls through the courts for expressing far less intolerant views than these cartoonists, blaspheme the prophet but woh betide anyone slagging off the macaans, madleys etc
i,m sure if people started doing cartoon posters of the pope shagging choirboys you wouldnt have time to mutter free speech before you were been dragged down to the cells,
by the i dont have a religious bone in my body

1st time poster more lies....there have been hundreds of books and plays that criticise and disrespect christianity and Jesus. The christain community deserves respect for its tolerance. You are not fooling anybody with that guff.

ive told you i havnt a religious bone in my body , but its laughable to think that under the banner of free speech you can say and do what you want in the uk today , anything you can say is only because they havnt got around to banning it yet, try telling that couple who barred gays from their b and b
