nobody supported him more than me even going back to his formula 3 days but as soon as he left for Switzerland that was it for me.

Felt the same but its the fact he said he left because he couldn't walk down the street in the UK   without being recognised & that was the main reason for going, a most infuriating comment, cannot really blame him trying to avoid a hefty tax bill but at least admit it Crazy

Rob -  a truly appalling article. The Guardian sees racism around every corner. No wonder Rotherham etc was allowed to happen...

I planted some white Cyclamen today. Guess I'm a racist...Plain

the bit about him not winning SPOTY is particularly laughable. iirc hoy and adlington were the 2 frontrunners. in fact adlington got turned over at short odds on. a multi gold medallist is always gonna win in an olympic year

There were so many holes in that article it was laughable.
There's a lot of luck involved in winning SPOTY, summed up by the fact that the very popular World Champion Frank Bruno never won it,
and the far less popular World Champion Lennox Lewis did.

There must be thousands earning good money from the race card industry.

I'm sure you'll get a shot at her platini if that's what rocks your boat, they'll be splitting up again in the not too distant future.

that Guardian article is really daft. That journo must exist in a state of permanent heightened paranoia.

As relayed in the comments section it's more to do with the nature of his sport and probably his blandness. As much as the BBC like to cream themselves it's not liked by a vast number.
Makes me think of Carl Fogarty. In Germany where his sport is far more mainstream he was a hero, even though he was English. Over here he wasn't nearly as popular.

Just imagine how much more popular Nelson Mandela would've been if he'd been white.  Cry
