If some dude turned up in my office that hadn't bothered to shave for three days then he/she would be shown the door and leave empty handed. Just because Sugar doesn't shave they all think it's acceptable to look like a hobo.

Shame James went, a complete clown but an entertaining one. Should have sent the other non-runner Sanjay home instead
|

By:
All that stuff about 'coming from nothing' is true though - till his mum and dad won millions on the lottery at any rate - surprised the bbc allowed him the platform to spout that nonsense - his dad has bought him businesses to play with

You wonder if the director of the show has a hand in the decision making about who gets fired and who doesn't every week, surely the nutters like James must be TV gold. Its not unreasonable to point out that is in essence an entertainment production which costs millions of pounds to create, mild mannered modest people must be an absolute killer for this show.
Not so much this year but certainly in the previous years of the show they all looked like male and female models, was this really a business decision or were candidates selected largely because they were pleasing to the eye? Don't believe the TV production doesn't have its own agenda which is exclusive of sugar's need to find a business person. |
|
By:
First time ever Sugar said something after saying "your fired" as James walked out he said "good luck " he deserved to go that is for sure but with the three of them sitting there I was sure he was going to keep James, cannot believe Sanjay stayed to be honest, unless his business plan is far superior to anyone else's

Sod Lord Sugar -- the hot tubs people should offer Mark £250,000 to work for them.
|

@p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y -- bringing back Roisin ... fkin cockney ****
Cockney? He's a bloody northerner, as you can tell from his northern accent. Also it says on the BBC site he's from Chesterfield, which is up north somewhere. |
|
By:
@pumphol -- James had to go. Sanjay might be useless, but James had just confirmed what Lord Sugar feared and we viewers already knew -- the guy is impossible to work with.
Good points: James is decisive, optimistic and resilient. He also, I am reliably informed, is good looking with a nice bum. But against that, he is often wrong, does not listen to colleagues (and especially not women) and struggles with detail because, to be frank, he is not that bright. We saw tonight, he overrode the subteams' choice of cheap products (they wanted the bike and dog gadgets for a show swarming with dogs and children), and could not master the tractor specs even when he had the brochure in his hand. But what condemned him was lying to the team about losing the hot tubs, and sustaining the lie into the boardroom when Roisin called him out on it. What that says to Lord Sugar is that if James does screw up, he will hide it from Lord Sugar till it is too late to rescue his quarter of a million. So he had to go. |
|
By:
James's other bloody stupid mistake was to bring back Roisin into the final boardroom. She'd already destroyed him in front of Lord Sugar so what did he think would happen? One can only imagine that once again, he'd not paid attention because Roisin is only a woman.
He should have brought back his mate Solomon and then the pair of them could have laid the task failure on Sanjay's ineffectiveness. |

Ram , first time looking in here for me , only read the last few posts are you a lady??
|
|
By:
@jon b -- there used to be a saying: on the internet, no-one knows you are a dog. For current purposes, I watch The Apprentice but not much else on telly, which gives me far too much time to think about who's done what.

|
By:
Super-salesman Mark forgot to negotiate discounts on the cap-bags. An oversight -- or a Machiavellian plot to screw Daniel who'd be stuck trying to sell them?

thats fine Ram , it was your 10-00 a, post got me thinking ,,,slightly devious so has to be a lady

Whats the pub quiz organiser,s name , he,s not long for the chopping board , a salesman who just doesn,t sale is like having a chocolate tea-pot .
|
|
By:
Daniel is the pub quiz bloke. He talks a good game but never delivers. (Lord Sugar to Daniel: "I'm not calling you a liar: I'm calling you a fantasist.")
|
|
By:
lol , yep , those question,s he made for the game , you couldn,t make that up ,unbelievable ,then his unreadable effort on the drink bottle , some awful moments from him , and he cant sell
. Love this show as always ,then I am a bit of a telly addict |
|
By:
Sugar has bent over backwards giving him every chance but he's woeful. Not only is he incompetent but every time he says he is good at something he bombs when it comes to the crunch and he is also petulant. Last night was pitiful.

That bloke who bought 7 hot tubs in one hand -- maybe he should win The Apprentice.
Presumably he'd figured out that if he approached The Apprentice team just before closing, the desperate wannabes would offer a far bigger discount than he'd ever get from the actual suppliers. Mark needed to close the deal in an hour or so, whereas the regular salespeople could just wait another day or another week. |
|
By:
gutted they didn't keep James until the tough interviews/grilling stage - would have been TV gold
|
|
By:
did we ever find out how much the guy paid for his 7 hot tubs?
the retail was £4k and MArk immediately offered him 1 for £3k but then the guy turned round and said 'well what if i'm buying 7....' and it cut to the board room. did we ever get told how much he got he paid per unit??? |
|
By:
also no one seems to have pointed out the guy who got fied last night was in fact called jimmy hill
is it any wonder he was such a muppet!? |
|
By:
@fkqmz re hot tub prices -- I've just rewatched it and the answer is no, but the sales figures for each team were as follows:
Two lawn mowers = £3,598 Chairs and wellies = £1,159.50 10 hot tubs = £30,115.25 Flat cap handbags and bike trailers = £500 Mark sold the first hot tub for £3,500. He knocked 5 per cent off his second sale -- but there were different models on offer. |

Tonight is the buying task (scavenger hunt) which in the past brought us the classic kosher chicken episode (where someone claiming to be Jewish thought that getting a fake Imam to bless a halal chicken made it kosher. Lord Sugar: "Well are you Jewish or aren't you? ... if you aren't sure you can pull down your trousers and we can check.")
Normally teams screw up either because of lack of general knowledge -- they can't identify the items -- or lack of common sense -- they need to identify sellers who are clustered together so there are no hour-long drives across London, and negotiate with people who are authorised to give discounts, so not the checkout girl. My guess is that absent a complete cluster****, Lord Sugar will get rid of one of the "dead men walking" such as Sanjay, Bianca or Daniel. Of course, a cluster**** is more likely than not, and probably more entertaining. Mark -- can sell and negotiate (but can he run a business?) who is most clearly playing a game. Felipe -- lawyer who can't sell but can manage and claims to run a successful business. Sanjay -- never does anything except moan a lot. Solomon -- can sell but can't tie his own tie -- works in tech so business plan might appeal to Lord Sugar. Roisin -- Irish accountant -- creative but has reached her mid-30s without starting a business so is a most unlikely winner. Bianca -- major ****-ups like giving away exclusivity for Westminster for just six sales. Daniel -- apparently useless fantasist who could start a fight in a phone box. Katie -- northern fitness entrepreneur (whatever that means) who looks nailed on for the final. |
