No Jock can ever call himself a PROUD SCOT every again if they don't vote YES

Do you really want to be dictated to by TORY governments who have well and truly screwed you over decade upon decade or a labour government that only want your votes but in reality do not give a flying FCUK about you, free education comes with limited job opportunity thanks to the INFLUX of immigrants, they give with one hand and take with the other, they sold out their working class roots they day they got their first whiff of power, VOTE YES, this is your one and only chance, the English will take the piss out of every jock until your dying day if you do not.

What destiny will Scotland have if it is a tiny member of the EU and tied to a currency it has no control over? Would hardly call this "independence"? Confused

The way he carries on it seems its more like a vote for a President Salmond than  actual Scottish independence.

We`re tied to a currency we already have no control over and being governed by a Tory government who don`t give a **** about us.

.....FFS Scotland.....its not about now, or Salmond.....its about 10, 20, 50, 70, 100, 200 years time.  Take your proper place among the nations.......all the "issues" and "personalities" of today will be irrelevant. It will be about how you make your lives better for yourselves.

Scotland has got the govt it voted for 12 out of the last 18 elections.  Same as England.  Not bad going.

It's a myth that we'd get a govt that gives a **** about us in an independent Scotland.  Politicians give a **** only about themselves & that won't change.

I find it incredibly odd that we've reached this point.  The SNP haven't got 'into power' at Holyrood on an Independence ticket at all.  I can't remember any great outcry or desire for independence when this all started.  It's down to Scots feeling that the SNP were the only alternative to the traditional Labour vote. Labour seen as almost bad as the Tories up here now. Salmond has lucked out with a Tory Govt in place, with David Cameron just the sort of guy that Scots love to hate.

I hope enough of us can vote with heads, instead of looking at the short term political situation. Devo-max will do for me.

.......its not about the "head"  / nor is about now (2014).

Nobody knows for sure how things will transpire in 20, 30, 40 years time all that certain is that it will be down to how well the Scots manage all aspects of life there.

However one thing is certain.....Scots in the future will feel prouder......more confident, more visionary, and less f*ckin' dependent - this will underpin greater prosperity medium to long term.

Exactly. Nobody knows...

Which is why the polls are seemingly so close.  I'm proud to be Scottish and also proud to be British.  I don't feel dependent on England.  Of course if we become independent, it will largely be down to us how well we do.  However, I don't think that emotional responses such as pride and confidence really cut it.

I don't really buy into the positivity of making our own choices. What if the choices available to us are so much the poorer in an independent Scotland?

There seems to be a misguided notion that only the yes voters truly want what's best for Scotland.

Any way, it's a question we'll never know the answer to.  Both situations can't exist concurrently so we'll never know which way would have worked out better.  As as No voter, I feel that I can't lose.  At least a Yes vote will create some excitement.

Scotland is and will always be a separate country. Britain is a political and economic construct that Scotland was dragged into, against the wishes of the majority of its people. The people of Scotland never ever voted to be part of Britain or to be ruled by an elite in London.

While there may have been a time - when the British empire was at its peak - when Scotland may have benefited from the union it is difficult to argue that in the last 50 years that has been the case: Thatcherism, the Poll Tax, the Bedroom Tax, Food Banks, child poverty, austerity measures against the most vulnerable, sons killed in illegal wars, a near privatised NHS, PPP, ATOS, nuclear weapons and nuclear waste, decimated traditional industries, an over reliance on Financial services, tax cuts for the richest baztards, zero hour contracts, squandered oil revenues, a concentration of public spending on London...

Forget about emotion. An independent Scotland can do better...if for no other reason than it can´t do any worse. Better Together my arrse.

i remember in the mid 1980s alex salmond famously declared Scotland will be free by 93(1993). this is a man whos only political ambition is to break up the united kingdom. people with long memories may remember in the 70s the Scottish national party voted with the conservative party in Westminster in a vote of no confidence to remove james callaghans labour government.callaghans famous response to salmonds snp was he had never known turkeys to vote for an early Christmas(how true was that statement) this resulted in a Margaret thatcher tory government for Scotland which they did not vote for.you can thank salmonds party for being involved with all the heartbreak and job losses heaped on the working class people of salmonds beloved Scotland. the separatist party (snp) should never be trusted by anyone. also it baffles me why a party hellbent on separation are keeping very quiet on important issues such as Scottish passports, who will set interest rates, nuclear weapons, Scottish army , navy etc, keeping or rejecting the queen as head of state. surely an independent Scotland means Scotland rejects everything that makes the union strong? or will he retain certain things that are good about the union in which case it will not be full blown independence!! I just hope the people of Scotland will not be fooled by anything salmond promises and vote no in three weeks time. remember separation is not just for Christmas it forever!!!!Angry

FFS this referendum is nothing to do with Alec Salmond. It´s a vote for independence.

If you don´t like Salmond fair enough, you can vote for somebody else at the next Scottish election, but don´t confuse the issues.

I think that similar to in business there is strength in size.
But my concerns are mainly in what it would cost to set us up independently.
I also have concerns that the SNP have failed miserably to give us financial detail in any aspect of this.
TBH I've just started a poker tourney and don't really have the time to elaborate now. Laugh

The Yes supporters are being asked to give answers to questions that are impossible to answer until such time as the real negotiations begin...as the Bitter Together camp well know.

How can the Scottish government answer questions on currency, the EU, NATO etc until after a Yes vote?

How many other newly independent nations were able to answer these questions before they became independent?

All of the great Scottish people have come about because of the union. After the union Scotland became
the country we think of as Scotland, before the union nothing. The union was so successful it produced
some of the greatest scientists, engineers, writers, inventors, etc. anywhere in the world.
What we think of as Scotland is a Scotland of the union.

WALOFS Lfc as usual. The enlightenment NOT the union brought the evolution of great thinkers on both sides of the border.

You could equally say the same thing about great English people.

Not sure about what you are calling Enlightenment in Scotland  but the multitude of  free thinking Scots  were a product of an  education system  and that education was a direct result of the REFORMATION ,The Union was  a  progression of this and after the UNION was made Scotland really  flourished and produced its greats  ,scientists ,inventors ,explorers, architects, writers ect ect .
Without the England's  help and protection  it could not have been possible .
