The Daily Mail's campaign regarding the Stephen Lawrence murder had far more to do with trying to gain black readership than any sense of justice or caring for him. They saw it as a bandwagon to aid circulation and jumped on it.

I think what I said is the generally held belief of the motives of their campaign. The fact that the Lawrence family were seen as 'middle England' in every way except their colour probably made Paul Dacre feel a little less 'dirty' by going against his and the Mail's ethos. |

They don't, and while the outcome of their Lawrence campaign was successful, that was a happy coincidence. He saw an opportunity to increase circulation amongst the black population and went for it |

It was actually the dishonesty of their Lawrence campaign that made me realise what a nasty paper the Mail was. Whether they were successful with their ploy I don't know.
Anyway, I'm sure the Mail would claim arguing on internet forums gives you cancer. Or cures it, depends which way up the coin landed that day. I shall stop being so cynical about the Daily Mail and reserve my vast reserves of hatred and bile for Phil Collins instead. |

Can you imagine the consequences if five white lads had chased down a black and hacked him to death.Headline news on the BBC guaranteed.LBC radio , which is supposed to base it news mainly in London, had barely mentioned this appalling murder.As with the Luke Fitgerald murder i phoned the station and spoke to a news editior.Unbelievably i was told on the day of the murder it was a "busy" news day and they have to prioritise.
Political correctness in the media raising its ugly head again as far as i am concerned. |

Daily Mail and Stephen Lawrence -- wasn't it that an uncle was a messenger or doorman at the Daily Mail and Paul Dacre got chatting to him one day? Something along those lines anyway.
In which case, the original motivation would have been neither principle nor commerce, but simply personal. After that, who knows? |

Anyway, back to the poor lad murdered by a gang of Blacks.
i wonder if it'll drag on and be as high profile as the Lawrence inquiry.? if you notice,Blacks always seem to attack in packs,or certainly more than one. (the poor soldier in London last year being another high profile example). murders, gang rapes ,muggings,steaming..why is this, is it a cowardly thing, i've rarely heard of a black person killing one on one, But i suppose its because they've no fathers to guide them, or they were racially abused as children. or they were not given a proper education,.but they all seem to be good boys who have been led astray by someone else and don't forget ,about them being budding young footballers.  |
