Went round today to ask him politely (although firmly) to keep it down a little.

Husband told me to 'fook off' and Mrs said 'wind your neck in' .......Laugh

Pondering my next move.

I) Let it die down in the hope they keep it quiet.
ii) Try again, 100-1 shot at present.
iii) Have a spot of 'one on one' with him, he is a pathetic sort 5'ft 6 and pot belly, I'm 6'ft'1 and more than his match.
iv) Give them a bit of their own medicine for a week and blast my stereo up a notch, bit petty by my standards

Place your vote please and I'll follow the majority.

I had a noisy neighbour once, she would be at it at all hours. one day, I knocked on her door and asked if she had any tissues spare, she came back with a bundle, I said thank you, and by the way, can you turn your bedroom noise up.

It worked, no more noise, but i never dared return with a new packet of kleenex.

If you are irritated by noise you will not want to go to prison. Acoustic bang bang central.

So avoid shooting them in the face if you can.

But if you are not scared of him or his bula, then go around again and put it to them more firmly that if it carries on then you will n ot be responsible for your actions. If it continues, play psychological warfare with them. Get into their heads that you are a bit radio rental with a glint of madness in your eyes.

Use what you know Howdi. He gos to work at 6am. So he isn't going to want grief when he needs his rest. Go to the other neighbours above, below and on your side and explain the situation and ask their permission to sort this out. You'll be in their good books because you've considered their feelings and with their permission get the loudest most irritating music you can think of. Put stereos in all adjoining rooms, let these neighbours know the plan and from about 22.00 play on repeat at full tilt and fucck off.

The next day pop round and ask politely if your music kept them awake. If they don't get the message then you may have to move. Worked for a friend of mine though.

Dont worry too much Howdi. She doesn't even need to know beforehand. My mate told his missus to have a weekend at her mums to recharge her batteries and he'd look after the kids who were in their early teens at the time. Dropped her off on the Friday evening knowing that next door would be partying and having a skinful that night. Like I said he told his other neighbours who were right behind him and at about 4am when everything calmed down he gave it another half hour to let them get into bed and settle and then the music went on full blast and he had his three boys out of bed running around the house banging on the walls with pots and pans and all sorts.

He never had any trouble again. Of course that might not always work but the biggest problem isn't the noise per se it's your sense of powerlesness and to use a much misued word, lack of respect. It's as if you don't matter. Show them you matter and you have the same right to peace as they do.

I had problems with very noisy neighbours but fortunately the neighbour on the other side at the time had also took a dislike to them. In the end the neighbour sold his house and left. We had a BBQ and the neighbour on the other side had a few drinks and told me what he said he had done to get rid of them. Over a period of two years  he'd blocked their sewage drain, flooded their garden, cut their sky dish wire, blown their electricity fusebox, poisoned the trees in their garden, blocked the sink outlet, reported their car untaxed, reported them for rat infestation and the list went on. He was a retired ex-serviceman and not at any time did he ever complain to the neighbour or have any issue with them face to face. I really didn't know whether or not to believe him but years later when I moved elsewhere I met up with another local on a return visit and asked him if he knew what had happened , when I told him what I knew he said "Oh you heard did you ?".

You are correct of course Emden.

Problem is when you move into a new house in a cul-de-sac with a small playground for the kids, looked great until we moved in and my 10yo son was being attacked by the eldest kid on the street who dragged other kids into much the same thing..
Polite visits to the parents revealed a couple that thought they owned the whole development, pretended not to believe my complaints.
Police were crap and said they would have a word and I told the law they were leaving me hung out to dry.

Wife had enough one night and told me she wanted to move as a few other distraught neighbours had done recently.
Had a restless night as I was not prepared to move again, got up at 5.00 had a brandy and waited up the road in a dark corner.
Received a caution and on my record for six years as a first offence, wife was happy, son is even closer than any best friend and made a few friends in the street that said they had had enough.

Could not be any happier since that morning, but it is not guaranteed, I was fortunate that the bloke despite being bigger, was not as motivated as a bloke that has nothing to lose.

Howdi,
I've been thinking about your problem for a couple of days.
Essentially, you have got to get your neighbour to realise that their noise is causing some discomfort (to you but as importantly to others) and if they continue they will also face discomfort.  And to others is the key to the solution.
What I recommend is a note through his letterbox from a near neighbour (not you - just house number on note) attached to a plastic bag with dog sh1t in it and saying unless the noise quietens, there's plenty more to come.
Noisy neighbour will either go quiet or confront the neighbour for sending the note ... who will of course deny everything.  If noise continues, then same again but ratchet up, e.g. small explosion, then house fire, that sort of thing.

That's what neighbours are for.

PS I'm a clinical psychologist and this type of persuasion can be very effective ... as can a horse's head in the bed ... always a good deterrent.
