In 1987 I took a girl to see The Color Of Money in the same cinema in Gerrards Cross, Bucks, where Sid James and Joan Sims watch the nudist film at the start of Carry On Camping.

I know a bloke who was bitten by a dog that was once owned by the man who lives next to the milkman, who delivers milk to the newspaper boy's parents, who were once on the very same motorway that Steve Davis was in a car on, when there was an accident a mile in front of him, on the opposite carriageway, that led to London, where a bloke I know who was bitten by a dog that was once owned...

I've beaten a multiple World Professional Darts champion in a leg of darts, and witnessed by a few dozen people in a marquee in Somerset. And it was all very embarrassing too, because I can't play darts for toffee.

I once bumped into Alan Bennett in the local supermarket. We apologised to each other and went on our separate ways. He did not have a packet of custard creams in his basket.

Here's one from from yesterday. I was walking through the coach park at Huddersfield Town FC when Sam Rush (CE of Derby County) drove by and I said hello, he even said it back. There was also a sign there saying "No cars" but that doesn't apply to him!

BB, I've seen him in a Laddies at Donington service station, and a Will Hill in Loughborough. Every bookie you speak to in Leics has served him at one time or another, apparently.

I also played cricket with that Great British Corinthian Andy Ripley, he was a much better rugby player than he was a cricketer. What a lovely bloke he was. He was one of the best Superstars ever which the dinosaurs on here will remember that programme.

I played in the same Boy's Brigade football team as David Bairstow, England and Yorkshire wicket-keeper, and Bradford City footballer.
My brother in laws late brother (Christopher Harland Wood) opened the bowling for Yorkshire with Freddie Trueman for a short while. My sister was on stage with Ernie Wise in the nignog reviews. N I G N O G in case it's deleted Bass guitarist Mick Jackson of The Love Affair group of the sixtiew was a pal at school, as was Bruce Bould from Regie Perrin (the guy who kept saying super) My aunt was a good friend of David Hockney's mum. Went to the same church. She was also a good friend of Dorothy Appleton, whose brother Sir Edward Appleton was probably one of the most important men you've never heard of. |

I once sat in a chair occupied just a couple of minutes earlier by Bob Geldof. We were visiting the same cafe, but he must have left a matter of just a few seconds before I arrived, yet unseen by myself at the shop entrance/exit. Our timings must have been like clockwork to enable that...
Can any of our readers beat that? |

I have played a leg of darts v Dennis Priestley - to make it fair we played from 701 and had to throw at the bull for throw!!
I have played footy against Neil Webb in a national business footy competition @ the Madejski - he was playing for the post office. He was a bit of a chunky chip alright. Had a splendid evening at a charity cricket do at Lords. On our table was Stuart Law (Aussie cricketer). Agreed to go for a few beers at a future date. My brother probably still has his mobile number. We never called him. Nearly shagged an American actress from some TV show after I met her at Fabric nightclub in London. She was holidaying with her mum and had rented a house. It was 4.00am when we got back to her place. Her mum was awake. I slept in the porch with no shag. I had to call Claire Short (Labour party bigwig) back and she was very forthright with me 'not to interrupt her soiree.' Her words, not mine. I was shocked as didn't think she went in for posh get togethers. My great auntie 'courted' Leonard Rossiters dad. It was all very serious. I think they split up because of the catholic/protestant thing being important at the time. Thank god it never panned out as I never would have forgiven her if there was no Rising Damp. ![]() ....and finally. I could be seen on the red button on BBC2 at the front of the crowd during the World Darts final @ the Lakeside (several years after the event in a 'classic highlights montage'); Richie Burnett v RVB aka Barney. I was giving it large after having a few liveners and a bet on Burnett. |

At the end of a small poker tournament I did a deal to share the loots with three players, one was Tom Cruise's first wife, another was Elvis (not actually Elvis, it was "Elvis Senior", Bruce Atkinson).
I almost stood on Lester Piggott's foot when he was going to the parade ring at The Curragh. He stopped and let me pass. |

Bobby Windsor, hooker in the famous Pontypool front row of the great Welsh side of the 1970's actually DID step on my foot after the Major Stanleys XV vs. Oxford University match in about 1976. |
