Haven't had one of these for a while and usually a laugh. Kicking things off with:

One of my mum's friends is Leo Sayer's aunty.
My cousin's father-in-law was a very visible extra in the Tony Hancock film The Rebel
My best friend is a direct descendant of the famous (well he is in France), French privateer Robert Surcouf

Went for a game of golf with a mate , first tee box was busy and slow so the two players ahead said we'll make it a fourball to speed it up. One player was Mark 'Flash' Dudbridge the dart player ( i know, very tenuous claim to fame) so well in to the round and after Mark had found the water a number of times, my mate say to him he should change his name to Mark ' Splash' Dudbridge, we all fell around laughing including his mate but Flash was not impressed.

My best mate chats to Ken Dodd whenever he meets him in Liverpool Cathedral.
I received a school prize from Patrick Stewart (aka Jean-Luc Picard) just months before he started in the role.
Last summer, I bumped into Alan Bennett in the local supermarket, and we each apologised to the other.
I often see Mike Harding (aka The Rochdale Cowboy) in my local bar, and once exchanged pleasantries with him when we passed each other while I was out walking in the Yorkshire Dales. I said "hi" and he replied "how do?"

I met Jimmy Savile in 1973.

I stayed in a hotel in Manchester where I saw George Best drinking Champagne with a pretty blonde.

I ate breakfast at a posh hotel in Luxembourg on the table next to that of Barbara Castle and her entourage when the European MPs were in town.

There is a film coming out end of the year called Suffragettes starring  Meryl Streep, anyway I was doing extra work at Windsor racecourse  which was fronting as Epsom for the 1913 Derby, there was quite a long scene with the bookies & racegoers & they had the runners of the Derby up on the bookmakers boards, all the odds were wrong & they did not even have some of the horses on the board that were involved but I took it on myself to point out that Aboyeur the 100/1 winner of the race should be priced up properly instead of the 9/1 that was showing on all the boards, really annoys me they spend millions on all these films & don't get basic facts correct for what was an important part of the film.
