Aladdin. I was so unsure when I started this thread whether I was doing the right thing or not, I'm not normally the type of bloke who'd open up to a group of strangers about something so personal. But as you said the support I got on here was fantastic, I could be more honest typing my feelings on here than I ever could at the time speaking to friends and family about it.

Thanks yet again everyone. CoolCool

Two years to the day since it's happened. Where does time go?

There's been no real change since the last update. Her left arm is still useless but there's slight movement there now. We've had our first holiday since it happened which I was dreading tbh, but that went fairly well so I've no qualms in us going again soon.
Her mindset is still fantastic and she's dealing with it superbly. I think they main thing she misses is driving, because she's always reliant on me/others and she feels like she's lost her independence.

It's not easy mate but it has to be done. You've been dealt a bad hand with those two things happening to your parents.

Good luck. Cool

It's three years tomorrow. Her mobility hasn't got any better, but she's learned how to deal with it all and takes it in her stride. She got a disability car last week, and had a couple of driving lessons yesterday to get use to the adaptions.

I've just skimmed through the thread, and it was like having an out of body experience reading it again. Once again, thanks to everyone (even you Stewarty b!) for all your well wishes at the time, and since, it did/does mean a lot. Cool

S.kenbo

I don't often comment on here but feel compelled to after reading this thread for the first time. It's a real eye opener as to how people's lives can change overnight through no fault of their own.

When I made my first ever post on the HR forum you (and Chelsea Girl I think) immediately came on to welcome me to the forum. It didn't take much for you to do that but meant an awful lot to me at the time and gave me a good idea of the type of person you are. I've always considered you to be one of the most down to earth and happy go lucky characters on the HR forum which, in light of what you and your wife have been through in the last few years, is some achievement in itself.

It's heartening to read that she's now getting some of her independence back with the new car. I wish all the best to both of you going forward.
