For people who use a scroll-wheel mouse, can you get past the OP in less than 8 scrolls?
By:
Ah yes, you can do it in 5 if you're careful.

war n peace
By:
War and peace wasn't a comedy, or I might have included Tolstoy.
and, well done Ken, nice to know the work wasn't in vain. |
By:
Was looking for Michael Mcintyre but then realised there isn't a 0/10 section
By:
It wasn't SF, my mousey finger is leaner than Sting's 6-pack, I could probably tantrically finger Trudi Styler for 13 hours solid now.
By:
I think I'd give barry cryer a higher mark than 6, conversely frankie boyle would be about a 2/10 for me. Top of my list would be dave allen, ronnie barker on 7 or 8 for the acting, most of the 2 ronnies sketches were quite predictable after you'd seen a couple of shows.
Agree about joe pasquale as well ![]() ![]() |
By:
McIntyre just squeezed into a 3/10 - I agree it is a bit generous.
By:
still on the 2s
By:
Vlad Tepes is a serious ommission!
Where are Jack Benny, Mike Nichols and Elaine May???? |
By:
One of the 1/10 comedians exposed 7/10 Joe Pasquale as a joke thief

By:
Not every comedian ever is in the list - I don't know much about Jack Benny and I haven't heard of the other 3, Slicer.
Which one crisp? Is it justified? |

Omissions for George Carlin & Larry David?
![]() That pair should be in ANYONE'S top 10 - both are sublime ![]() |

FFS!!!!!!!!! Interesting reading? I couldn't get through the first group. Too much time on his hands.

I take it phil silvers is a spinal tap 11 ?
By:
billy connolly 8?you should be in the 10/10 for that
By:
Stewart Lee in the same group as Keith Harris and Orv

By:
I've tended towards Brits, though there are others.
Most of the omissions seem to be Americans. |

That is a very interesting article, crisp.
By:
I have, since compiling this list noticed loads of names who aren't it.
Oh well. I'll just consider them non-runners. |
By:
sarah millican, at least shes amusing........not when ive seen her she isnt.
By:
i miss Benny Hill. Chasing scantilly clad girls round impossibly high hedges is just frowned upon these days.
By:
Can I just say Studyform that i thoroughly enjoyed reading all them and the time and effort to actually write something different for each one and not merely start to repeat yourself was amazing.
Also i did agree with most which helped and plenty of laugh out loud moments especially amongst the lower numbers. Cheers and thanks. |
By:
Yes, The Priest, you can. Thank you.
It makes it worthwhile. |
By:
SF - out of interest, just where would you put George Carlin & Larry David?
You've included plenty of relatively obscure Yanks so did you just overlook the above pair? |
By:
Fantastic effort, certainly agree about Bob Monkhouse.
By:
I'm not overly familiar with Larry David, N-G. I wasn't as crazy as many people about Curb your Enthusiasm. He strikes me as being just a bloke you either like or don't or in my case, just think is "alright".
George Carlin was someone I'd forgotten about. Some good material, but not great delivery and a bit too much swearing. Plus, men with pony tails look silly. Both of them are very American which, in funny terms, usually detracts a little from the laugh. That, and the reactions of American audiences. So, 4/10 and 5/10 respectively. |
By:
I think both are hilarious but I have to agree with that pony-tail business...embarrassing.
I'm very anti-American concerning many issues (especially comedy) so for me to be such a fan (despite loathing American culture) means they're both something special if they can transcend my inherent disposition. PS - I like plenty of those rated 1/2/3 in your list as well as those that universally appeal the the top end of your scale. |
By:
I'd have been amazed if most people didn't agree with my 1/2/3 ratings. After all, they must be liked by some people to have become famous!
By:
^^^ after all the time this took, I don't want it dropping off.
By:
Yes, great effort SF, you could bring it out as a book for Christmas.
By:
SF - yes squire...a fully justified 're-boot' back to the top after all that hard work
![]() BUT...what I want to know is WHY bother? ![]() |
By:
Jimmy Carr live is very good. Seen one of his shows, and on QI.
Left to his own devices, most of what he says is unbroadcastable. |
