I haven't read all through this thread but Tobermory's comment the other day was a peach:
tobermory 01 Oct 12 23:42 "I certainly don't think Bush was involved if there was a conspiracy Imagine trying to explain all that to him" |
By:
They let it happen,
wtf does that mean. I wish you would just spit it out and stop playing games. But as you obvioulsy want me to guess, are you now suggesting that terrosits carried it out and The secret service/society chose to ignore it. I am not sure even Bin Laden had acces to cruise missiles. |
By:
On the contrary if your perception of what's possible is so wide then you begin to lose sight of reality

Which part did Iraq play in all this? Sadam didn't have weapons of mass destruction yet they went after him.
Yet Mugabe is just left to it |
By:
I agree with that too

its not really about whats possible, its about whats likely,
It is possible I will win the lottery, thats why I buy a ticket... but I dont really believe it is going to be me no matter how many times the adverts tell me that it could be. Perhaps you do, I wish you luck. |
By:
How would you know what was likely unless you were in the know?
By:
Crikey is Ampleforth ok.
Seems to be talking about the lottery. Goodnight folks. |
By:
You can calculate the odds of winning the lottery. You can't calculate the odds on how some psychopaths and their followers would be able to effect mass manipulation of public perception. But it doesn't make it impossible just improbable as far as personal perceptions translate. After all there are lottery winners every week, it's just not probable that it'll be me you or any other betfair forumite.

'How would you know what was likely unless you were in the know?'
Are you in the know? |
By:
Obviously not

You think you can calculate the odds of winning the lottery but by your argument you can't because it could be run by some psychopaths who rig it but mass manipulate the public |
By:
Now you're making it up. Post where I've said the national lottery is run by pyschopaths?
By:
Precisely so how can you come to the conclusion such a plot would have been even remotely possible.
By:
So you're saying it's impossible?
By:
You didn't, I claimed it could be, you've assumed it isn't given the your belief you can calculate the odds

Well, here we are, 290 posts later. Has anybody who thinks the U.S. Govt were involved changed their mind yet? Has anybody who thinks the U.S. Govt weren't involved changed their mind yet? You do realise that when this thread reaches 500 posts it must be copied on to the politics forum, they're good at not changing their minds as well. (Not that I've ever seen anybody change their mind in all my years on the internet)
By:
Not impossible, virtually so and infinitely less probable than the events transforming just as they did that day
By:
Sorry Don I'm not able to follow your argument now, what odds?
By:
Check the football forum Squeeze, most people on there change their mind after the result is known

Good morning SF. I hope you are well.
Are you the SF I have chatted with in the past, sir? If so, I changed a few forumites' minds on the cueball thread. Probably my finest hour on here! |
By:
What was you cueball thread Pokermonster.
I was a master cueman in my day. |
By:
Good morning PM, alas, I'm not the SF you spoke to before, sir, but I can see where you think I may be. I did read some of that thread about snooker balls, and applying spin, but it was all lost on me as I have never played it long enough to make it interesting, just a few frames in the long distant past, where I was beaten every time. As my drinking and playing partner used to say to those who were watching 'He's using the well known Double H method, sometimes it works.' and when asked what 'Double H' meant, he would smile and reply 'Hit and Hope.'

Good morning AG:
I've just resurrected my cueball thread for you, sir. Have a read through and let me know what you think. |
By:
My apologies Squeeze.
I thought you might be my internet buddy, Studyform, as he has a couple of nom de plumes with the SF initials. |
By:
Appreciated PM.

I was a cuemaker for several years, AG. And, without wishing to sound too immodest, a very good pool player. I'm writing a semi-autobiographical book about the things I've encountered during my playing days, plus a few pointers on how to play the game better.
By:
A cuemaker, excellent.
I grew up with the game. My dads best pal was a promoter and we holidayed at Prestatyn when the pro am was on. Thought i was going to be a pro. Natural cue action, smooth in the balls but not enough dedication and too nervous in front of the crowd. |
By:
Without being too personal Pokermonster, would you be a familar name in the pool world then?
I`m not so familiar with the top pool players myself. Obviously Selby was a top player but its always just been snooker for me. |
By:
I was a familiar name in the pool and snooker world twenty years ago, AG, and a few of today's top players would still know me. I was also employed as a features writer for several trade magazines in England, Europe and America.

Have you looked into nano thermite or thermite? |
By:
A Nano-thermite or "super-thermite"
MICs or Super-thermites are generally developed for military use, propellants, explosives, and pyrotechnics. Research into military applications of nano-sized materials began in the early 1990s.[3] Because of their highly increased reaction rate, nanosized thermitic materials are being studied by the U.S. military with the aim of developing new types of bombs several times more powerful than conventional explosives.[4] Nanoenergetic materials can store more energy than conventional energetic materials and can be used in innovative ways to tailor the release of this energy. Thermobaric weapons are one potential application of nanoenergetic materials.[5] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nano-thermite |

I'm puzzled, why wouldn't Evil Genius Rumsfeld simply contact Blair who would contact James Bond would contact Q Branch? I bet Q would have some new gadget that would have blown up those buildings.
