How much is your usual 'Lump on' ... Huggy ![]() |

To tell you the truth i very rarely back odds on selections for singles, but i have in the past placed bets for a monkey on a couple of occasions.
My father loved taking big single bets on odds on shots,I remember once a geezer having 3k on Shergar in the St Ledger when Cut Above beat it. |

Let's get this right.
Joined: 09 Mar 04 | Topic/replies: 5,095 | Blogger: Huggy ( I have noticed today William Hill have pushed them out from 1/16 to 1/12,trimming the draw from 8/1 in to 7/1 They know something ?) That doesn't make sense Huggy. Can you clarify what was the original price Will Hill quoted and what is it now? 12/1 on Oddschecker. |

1/12 is a better price than 1/16
they were pushed out in the betting, FROM 1/16 |

My mate lost £2k on here trying to gobble up a £2 profit, they do lose.
imo bet what you can afford to lose, not what you hope to gain. If you back 1/12 shots enough time then they will lose. Bookies make their money by offering unfair odds but they do get them wrong sometimes, if you judge the 1/12 to be wrong then back but only back if you can take the hit. I thought the Gers were a shoe in to win last week BTW even though I never touched the match. |

If a team is shortening it's the opposite of being pushed out.
|

eg
LONG-TIME ante-post favourite Sarafina has been pushed out to 4-1 (from 100-30) with William Hill for Sunday’s Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp after being drawn in stall 13 on Friday morning. |

The odds with Hills have lengthened
|
|
By:
1/12 to 1/16 is shortening (coming in)
You need to put £16 on to win £1 1/16 to 1/12 is lengthening (going out) At 1/12 you only need £12 to win £1 Are you fishing ffs ?!?!?! ![]() |

Senior moment imo
|

yes but it's not effin 1/16, it's 1/12
|

Numbers work backwards with odds on. ( Have I been hooked here? )
|
|
By:
what's this supposed to mean?
( I have noticed today William Hill have pushed them out from 1/16 to 1/12,trimming the draw from 8/1 in to 7/1 They know something ?) Doesn't make sense, worded wrongly! |

12/1 to 16/1 is going OUT
reverse for odds-on so 1/16 to 1/12 is also going out What was the year before 99 B.C. ? It was 100 B.C. not 98 B.C. |
|

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() How much do you have to put on to win £1 if a hoss is 1/12 = ANSWER £12 How much do you have to put on to win £1 if a hoss is 1/16 = ANSWER £16 So 1/16 is a WORSE price than 1/12 So when it goes FROM 1/16 TO 1/12 it's being pushed OUT In the famous words of Basil Fawlty - Try to understand this before one of us dies ![]() |
|
By:
1/16 out to 1/12
1.06 out to 1.08 You get more money back so the price has gone out. |

ffs 1/3 to 1/2 IS being pushed out the number on the right is smaller in the second price than the number on the right in the first price 1/16 to 1/12 is JUST THE FACKING SAME - being pushed OUT |
|
By:
1/10 to 10/1 would be pushed out ... so yeah he's correct
Punters just think the opposite |
|
By:
so yeah he's correct
Who me? I know I am |
|
By:
IT's all viewed from evens so, yes 12/1 to 16/1 is going OUT, but so is 1/12 to 1/16 : therefore 1/16 to 1/12 is 'coming in'. hth
