It's all the fault of the late 19th-century London newspapers who invented the nickname Jack the Ripper in these fake letters, it was more catchy than the previous "Withechapel murderer" and "Leather Apron" . They are the first to have made a business based on murder, but hey everybody needs to eat

I've been on the phone to a sad woman I know who works in PR.

She's looking forward to reprsenting her new dead client Sweeney Todd, to promote 'his exciting range of award-winning pies'.

Beat me to it Andy4Fingers.

He keeps popping up. Put paid to Michele Bachmann's chances of getting the Republican nomination when she went to Waterloo, Iowa and said how great it was to be John Wayne's hometown Laugh.

Great song about him by Sufjan Stevens.

When: 17 May 12 14:21
Can not be that intelligent, he got caught.
By:

When: 17 May 12 15:05
yeah eventually he did, but the amount he killed and the way he conducted his killings, means he was the most intelligent.

he killed nearly 50 or suttin...only change got him caught.

Do you think Bundy would kill as many now, with DNA been a powerful tool in "Intelligent People" Capture?
By:

When: 17 May 12 16:05
nah agree, things were different then.

to be a serial killer is much tougher now.

but still he deserves credit for what he did in said time.

I maintain that Harold 'Dr Death' Shipman with his huge score (200+) is the daddy of this sort of thing

1) He was a 4king doctor! The abuse of position & trust is unsurpassed
2) No-one knew he was doing it except him - hardly a publicity seeker ( I think this is a factor in driving some of them)
3) The quantity is incredible. I'm guessing he wasn't stopping until someone stopped him
4) Didn't explain or elaborate - although mentioned it gave him 'a buzz'

53 confirmed killing over 12 years and most importantly three (count 'em) nicknames.

Andrei Chikatilo - The Butcher of Rostov, The Red Ripper and The Rostov Ripper, a true giant of the game.

my fav?

Zodiac.

Took them on like they were nothing, bam.

And never got caught!
By:

When: 23 May 12 13:45
I will plump for an all ways tri-cast:

1) Jack the Ripper - The Whodunnit to end all whodunnits

2) The Zodiac Killer - Had the cops running round like headless chickens & his nickname is pretty good

3) John Wayne Gacy - The clown killer. Brutal but got away with it for a long time. Never liked or trusted clowns since I found out about this physco.

In the event of a Non Runner I will throw in the infamous Wests. As thick as pig sh1t but a Britolian accent that would somehow ease having a cup of tea with them.

For me, the fact Zodiac was so good in not getting caught...gives him no.1 place in this list.
