Not that I believe it but it's gonna be in the public eye soon. that aside, I grew up while he was on jim'll fix it, seemed like a saint to me. RIP indeed |

I thought he was a very good TV presenter, especially on fix it. I was listening to Radio Leeds this morning. They had a phone in about Sir Jimmy. As it was a Leeds progrmme obviously many had met him, usually when he was donating his time to hospital duties at St James Hospital. Nobody had anything bad to say about him. One chap said that he bumped into Jimmy in the lift after he had been visting his mother who had not long to live. Jimmy asked which ward his mother was on. Next time he visited his mother she told him that Jimmy had spent half an hour with her.....JIMMY ALSO CAME AWY WITH TELEPHONE NUMBERS OF THREE OF HER GRAND DAUGHTERS WHICH MADE HIS HOSPITAL VISIT WORTHWHILE..... |

A predatory man who was clearly extremely adept at getting what he wanted in many respects. He had the last laugh as so many still appear to cling to his public persona. What chance did any kid have to bring this into the open ?

A bit odd i guess but can't think of any of the so called rumours actaully really seeing the light of day even in the internet age? probs a load of old codswallop anyway. horseman the new moneytree? |

Just gone back & looked at the thread & this takes the biscuit, not because what this person has written has proved to be completely wrong but making a statement as though they 100% know what he was like !
A_T 30 Oct 11 09:30 People going on about Sir Jimmy like he was Michael Jackson or worse. There is not one shred of evidence to back up these unsavoury stories. Sir Jimmy was a deeply compassionate man. He wasn't perfect but then show me someone who is. |

Not seen this thread before, I don't think, so not sure why it's relevant now but....
manc man 29 Oct 11 15:33 Ows about that then, wonder if the stories that people alluded to, will now come out You wondered correctly. erse2 30 Oct 11 07:27 apparently there were stories of child abuse that would not be published by the media due to possible litigation/libel, but I think now he is no longer alive, that barrier is removed, so expect some dirt to be thrown. He made a realy creepy comment abour the girl I was with. an unlikeable individual. Good calls. kenny mann 31 Oct 11 02:19 One chap said that he bumped into Jimmy in the lift after he had been visting his mother who had not long to live. Jimmy asked which ward his mother was on. Cringing? No. Check out my first post in this thread. A_T Joined: 27 Jan 06 Replies: 6449 29 Oct 11 15:19 Absolute legend Sir Jimmy. TThere's going to be a lot said now his crack lawyers can't do anything but for now let's remember him as the nation's favourite uncle. Incidentally Sir Jimmy has no recollection of ever visiting a children's home in Jersey. from another thread... A_T 01 Mar 11 19:41 He was the first to use 2 turntables thereby inventing the modern DJ. Sir Jimmy has lived life to the full and his lawyers are the very best of their profession. A_T Joined: 27 Jan 06 Replies: 6449 02 Mar 11 19:07 Sir Jimmy has done more for charity than there is time to list. A hugely compassionate man his work at Stoke Mandeville hospital is well known but he also has links with Broadmoor Hospital. During his life Sir Jimmy has indulged himself on a scale most people can only begin to imagine. He has no recollection of ever visiting a children's home in Jersey. Sir Jimmy's lawyers are the very best. Amazingly Sir Jimmy never faced a single charge or spent even one night in prison. We knew. But apparently the PM, the Royal family, the police, the BBC either didn't know or chose to turn a blind eye. He will always be Sir Jimmy Savile. |
