Fishperson... I mentioned above that the place where the body was found, i.e. where they had set up their scene of crime screen seems to be next to the wire fence at the entrance to the quarry, NOT next to the stone wall.
They have put a "Have you seen?" sign up next to the stone wall and people have jumped to conclusions that that is where body found. |

Ok trying to think outside the box and get away from the two most obvious suspects.
About 7 years ago i was a juror at the Old bailey in a attempted murder case where this guy was stalking a woman even going to the length of living in a tent in the woods behind her property. One morning he attacked her in the street with a hammer in broad daylight. What had she done to warrant this attention? Well she had been nice to him and it was part of her job to drive him to places where he would do work as a gardener.I also saw a documentary on TV where this guy travelled from Germany to kill the b/f of a girl he became obsessed with on the net whilst playing war games, he had never even met her before.One thing i learned from the court case is that obsession seems to have no boundaries as to human behaviour. Jo been in Bristol approx two months, what if she has attracted a stalker, maybe someone she deals with at work or as a client, a sad case that she is nice and polite to. This person gradually builds up an obsession but never oversteps the mark and therefore Jo has not reported any unusual behaviour to anyone. Now this person has found out she will be alone for the weekend and "by chance" just happens to be driving along her street and offers her a lift, being cold she accepts and invites him in for a beer, the pizza gets left in the car. He kills her but being a complete nutter removes the body, he doesnt sexually assault her because he isn't capable but he keeps her body for company for a few days. As Xmas approaches he realises he has to dispose of her body as there will be too much activity over the period.On Xmas eve he dumps the body. |

Searching through the sludge in the street drains, now, ffs! What's that about? Do they think the missing sock might have fallen through the grill? Like the abductor is walking down the street with her body over his shoulder and a sock slips off and disappears down a drain? Even if they found it, what would it reveal?

re the pizza box....i`ve suggested previously on here,before we knew about the sock,that if she ate the pizza and put the packaging in the kitchen bin and then after the crime the killer realised he needed to get rid of evidence,perhaps his shirt was torn in the struggle or as it turns out perhaps the sock,the killer puts the evidence in the bin,not realising the importance of the pizza packaging and dumps them together.
its also interesting that the site where joanne was found is almost directly opposite in direction from bristol that sheffield is,ie southwest versus northeast. |

really? i'd got the impression they'd lived in the area longer but had moved into the flat just 2 weeks prior. 2 months doesn't seem long enough for the bf to be getting all nostalgic about their time in bristol, sports clubs and etc.

Moving the body either dead or drugged to third location might make sense of the moving of the body just to dump by side of road, which is the bit I dont get

Plausible theory Aceme, but why not leave the body in the flat? Far less risky than carrying it out to his car and then having to dump it somewhere. It would also make it seem more likely that someone in the house had killed her.
As for where it was dumped, there seems to be confusion (yes, more) about on which side of the wall it was found. Over the wall, ie. away from the road, would account for the long time taken to discover it. |

You cant say that though, could have been put there any time and covered in snow and found within few hours of it being put there. The dog walkers would be able to tell police if it was their usual route everyday

I totally agree, why remove the body. But in this theory im trying to think outside the box. This killer is a totally obsessed fruitcake and he takes the body so he can look at it, talk to her, stroke her hair etc for just a few days, maybe even share the pizza.He has fantasised about her for months since he first met her. I have seen obsessive behaviour first hand in the case i highlighted and believe me its pretty scary and the actions of the perpetrator can defy logic. |

Not a stalker-type nutter IMO. There was no sexual assault. Body was moved from flat vastly increasing risk of detection. There has been no reconstruction, no appeal to women to be extra careful as there is a psycho on the loose.
Why? IMO bill think they know exactly who did it but have so far been unable to puncture the alibi. |

I think you have copied and pasted from a news report and NOT what the police actually said. The police said to take normal precautions such as women not walking home alone in the dark and people should take care when opening door to strangers. The news outlets translated that into a specific warning for women to avoid walking home alone after dark. The difference may be subtle but there has never been a specific warning given by the police of an increased threat. |

-------------- How do they know it's not the start of a killing spree? Must have a good idea of who did it for them to rule that out. Agree with A_T that they know who it is but can't pin it on them yet. Most likely one of the housemates. An intruder would have left the body there and tried to link it to one of them. |

Another thought. The pizza,. What size was it? Could have been bought to share. Perhaps it was shared. Could have been for somebody else. Hence no pizza, no box.
