OK

but just so you know, my political views cover a wide spectrum but the one consistant factor is that I have very little repect for the vast majority of politicians and Mrs Thatcher is certainly not an exception.

Won't be any jobs sweeping the streets. That's council work. 100,000 council jobs to go, so extra competition for vacancies.

Have any of you thought about setting up a home based business?
The times may be tough now, but they will improve, and you will be ready for the upturn.
Don't waste your time looking for others to employ you. Train and employ yourself.
Also read 'The Magic Of Thinking Big'. It is a old book aimed at sales-men in the USA, but a lot of the advice is good for most situations.

Get down there sharpish. You've paid your taxes. When your savings run out, you'll wish you went sooner.

One piece of advice - they'll ask you how much in savings you have. Tell them your down to your last £200.

You use to be allowed £3,000. Don't know what it is now.

wur I do not think I could sign on,I do not plan to stay unemployed and I know it is old fashioned but I do not want to take money for sitting on my arse.

I will try for another couple of weeks then do some voluntary work to keep my self-esteem until something comes up.

Get down to the broo and sign on mate and don`t be so bl**dy stupid. You`ve paid your taxes and are fully entitled to your benefit. With respect, you can`t live on self-esteem and at the end of the day you`ll have to sign on eventually.

I as my age implys am rather fortunate in that my mortgage is almost up,my wife brings in a wage we can live on albeit it is not a luxurious lifestyle by any means.

I will get a job,in my opinion by signing on I will resign myself to not getting a job something that to me is not a option.

I have health insurance, doesn't mean i am resigned to getting ill.

In all honesty if your that weak that by signing on you think you will be resigned to not getting a job, then your probably not a good prospect for a future employer

Good luck with the job hunt though

If you sign on the opposite will happen. Going in there every week will make you even more determined to get a job.

A1 I realise that you are a rather negative individual,I on the other hand prefer to be positive hence that at the age of 44 I have not had to ever seek employment.

As it stands I have been unemployed for only 3 weeks, ffs I have taken holidays abroad for more than that Laugh

Trust me I am positive and will find employment.
