Lard, originally onloy used as a cure for fish based anaphylaxis, was found to have a very unusually high boiling point which made it ideal for incinerating copper headed snakes and native Americans.

This gave birth to the saying "you've had your chips".

Apologies for my humble effort. Does that qualify as a triple-header? Wink

travelling man, someone on another thread has already accused me of being a reincarnation. i only joined betfair in november last year as im a luddite / technophobe. but hey ho.

id say thats a triple header, not to be confused with the triple headed copper head snake which survives on a diet of native americans.

Sorry swagman wasn't accusing you of anything - just being nosey Whoops

No 'fence intended anyroad.

I think we've exhausted the snakes and native americans now - unless you recall that the tribe to which the triple-headed snakes were most partial were a little-known offshoot of the Sioux nation known as the Ladders?

No, that's too poor even by my standards Blush

Over the years, the incineration technique was gradually improved and the most efficient way was to place the snakes on a bed of sand impregnated with lard.
During the incineration process which would take several hours, the workers would amuse themselves playing a board game of their own invention which was named after them, and that's how the game of snake sand larders came into being.

Arsenal tried to sue the Vengaboys for breach of copyright. Unfortunately their case was unsuccessful due to a spelling technicality. This is not the first time they've had run-ins with musicians when Arsene Wenger fell out with Elton John when he used his name for the first two words in Circle of Life and consequently The Lion King.

Racing pigeons is a predominantly Northern activity which seems strange when you consider the uneveness of the terrain.
Participants therefore expend  a great deal of time and energy ging up hill and down dale while the pigeons just fly straight and true and generally win the race.

Felix W@nkel, the inventor of the internal combustion engine was arrested many times by the Heidelberg police for dropping his lederhosen and relieving himself in public places.

This explains why such activity is known as 'having a quick Felix'.

When Bletchley Park cryptographers fed Godfrey & Siddons' Four-Figure Tables into their computer, the slim blue booklet was revealed to comprise page after page of explicit and lurid pornography. Several of the young female boffins fainted, while Alan Turing himself was never able to pump up his own bicycle tyres again.

As a consequence every available copy of the tables was pulped, while a team of Ministry of Education typists used a set of dice to construct new ones.

Despite the random nature of the new tables they continued to be used in schools throughout the Commonwealth for decades afterwards, with the Betfair IT Dept still referring to the booklet as its "bible" to this day.

no worries travelling man

perhaps one of the most famous quotations ever in the english language is from Shakespeare's Henry V, his play about Agincourt a famous battle during the Hundred years war. as he prepares to attack, to encourage his men, Henry says 'once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more'.

but did you know how he came up with this powerful line? one morning when he was getting dressed, as his butler was passing him his clothes he said 'once more unto my breaches, dear friend, once more'. he immediately realised what a great line it was and so included it in his latest work. who would of thought that a line describing such a mundane task could morph into such a powerful piece of literature?

It is a tiny speck in our universe, yet is so big that it would take a passenger jet, travelling at 800 kph,
720 years to fly round it just one time!

Sh1t isn't actually brown, it's a light shade of purple, but because that shade is at the lower end of the spectrum, it appears brown to most humans.

The queen's sh1t is a lovely shade of turquose.
