That would be an interesting concept - betting on quizzes and paying the money via betfair.  Get Nibbs on the case.

Hello Tucky. Long time since I've seen you! Hope you are well.

Yes, I remember Statters with great fondness - especially when he came in from the pub, roaring drunk and usually roaring at everyone and playing in his FG quizzes.
Happy days.

The last I heard of him he was going on a round the world backpacking type trip - but fully expected to be murdered somewhere along the way!

I really hope he wasn't, and is enjoying  life and a pint under a banana tree somewhere now.

I haven't played any quizzes on here for ages, but the new forum must make them a bit of a lottery surely? It would be like that Two Ronnies Mastermind sketch.

Oy yes, Stemac is very much missed too.
A great character.

Tucky, Mr Nibbs has set up a new site for them and they're going down a bomb. Very fast and much banter to be had.

He mooted the idea of hosting one tonight at about 9-9:30.
Have a look on this forum around that time if you're interested.

Morning tt - surprised you're still going. Are you still damaging yourself in unfeasible domestic accidents on a regular basis? I hope you are OK, too.

Now - for the real issue. BRING BACK SNAKE PLISSKEN!!

My broadband speed precludes my involvement in any quizzes at the minute tommy - it would probably be quicker for me to send a pigeon tbh - but I might pop along to observe if I'm about.

UTI - there wasn't any betting - Statman put up the money himself.

I'm still here - injuring myself  as ever, Tucky!
I had 'boggled' head syndrome not long ago - which propmted my doc to exclaim "Crikey O'Reilly!" to, when he heard what I'd been doing!

Yes, please pop in if there's one going, Tucky. You'll enjoy it.

I see tucky.  I was thinking somehow you could have a quiz with a £2 entry fee say and they somehow pay it up on betfair (minor money laundering) and the winner takes the kitty or something like that.  Have no idea how it would work tbh - just thinking out loud.

I expect your doctor has his own column in Lancet tt.

I have never heard of boggled head syndrome, but then I don't suppose your doctor had either.

Iconoclast is still here, but a watcher. I know that as there was a horse running by that name a few months back and I started a thread asking if anyone remembered him and he posted. hadn't seen him for years.

No I didn't.

loomboy!! Nice to see you. I trust you are well.

UTI, you would think that could easily be arranged. But then, you'd think pressing the suspend button as the runners leave the gates could be easily arranged too.

To explain the above, the iconoclast account is still open but dormant.  I tried posting as iconoclast, using the old user name and password, but it has come up under luddite. Great security, Betfair!

For instance, if I was QM, I try to lay England 1st innings runs to get 100 at 1.01 (they'll defo get 100).  Anyone wanting to take part then puts £2 on.  Say 10 people do that then I win £19 after comission.  Then the winner trys to lay England 1st innings runs to get 200 (presume we've scored that many runs by then) at 1.01 for £19 - I then put the £19 quid and he gets about £18 in his sky rocket after comms.  Have I missed something? would that work logistically?

People could take part in the quiz without paying of course, but wouldn't be eligible for prize fund.  It is just an idea and relies on trusting the QM of course.  It is also throwing 10% of the money betfairs way and is perhaps even illegal to "lose" money on purpose.  And some people would claim it takes the "fun" out of quizzes and they may well be right - Stewards Enquiries would be v.stressful.  Perhaps not many people would want to take part if they feel they have no chance of winning so perhaps a handicap quiz would be the best way.

At first glance I reckon that would be feasible, but as you say, stewards' enquiries may become vexatious.

Judging by my experience of snooker tournaments, handicap quizzes would be open to any amount of skulduggery - for instance, you might just get people answering "Muhammad Ali" to all the questions just to get their mark up for next time. Best keep them fun imo. But then I don't play them any more, so my opinion is worth sh1t.

Has anyone got a link for the new quiz site?

What a shame.  No longer will forumites be able to praise themselves, and then in so doing see that they have used the wrong name.  You may remember the classic exchange between Rachel and SUNDANCEKID, which went something like this.

SDK: How you doing, Rachel?

Rachel: Great thanks. And all the better for chatting to you, SDK.

SDK: All the girls say that, Rachel ;)

SDK:  But it's true, SDK. I think I'm falling in love with you.

Re: the new posting stips with multiple accpunt holders, there have been some very funny incidents in the last few days on the racing forum, which has always attracted some proper weirdos who like to talk to themselves on here all day.

SDK was completely deranged, to be fair to him.

He probably died in a tragic hang-glider accident in his "orchard"

Nope.  SDK posts as JoeJordan.  Less frequently, thankfully.  He used to be a 500 posts a day man.

I remember the orchard, and the quarter mile he had to go down his drive to put his bin out.

Someone said that sdk still posts here, surely not? I've yet to meet someone anywhere near as narcissistic as he was,he'd stand out a mile.

Though there is someone ^ on this thread who's quite annoying, but not up to the 'kid's' level.

I'll have you know that SDK is third in line for this forums All-Time Number One Lothario Award.

Just behind Each Way and Fresh, two front runners with whom no mortal man could hope to compete. They wooed so many blokes pretending to be women between them that I think they once bummed each other in confusion.
