Dobbo Slippy Blue Clarky9 Gogoidle Cashless rides again ^^^^ I'm sure that these still post Paultadhunter - posts now and again, IIRC, under the moniker 'PT'. Waynecoyne (changed his name - can't remember what it is) He won the 2004 or 2005 Grand National Quiz on here. |
By:
I miss old Clarky9.
By:
There's a few more than that still around mr w. I wasn't aware that Waynecoyne was still here. I used to enjoy some late night ramblings with him and his mate on here, whose name escapes me.
By:
Good old Dobbo still 'ere
By:
Clarky9 still around surely? Well if he's not he was a few weeks back. Something about 3 months to whatever he was on about this time.
By:
His cat's birthday I think it was.
By:
If any of the ones I didn't mention are still here, they must be on footy, which I rarely visit.
By:
How did you get that list anyway? (you must have a database the CIA would be proud of) or a photographic memory canny

It was a how old are you thread, for some reason I jotted down the ages. Don't have a database. I think Study' does. |
By:
Dont think FruTBun or Nashwan have been seen for years imo
By:
Fru T Bun was on quite recently. I said hello stranger, and he said he only pops in now and then.
By:
Great to see those names though, you could come on here at 2 am years ago and get into some great craic with many of the above, times have changed on here
By:
I could be wrong about Nash, although I think I saw him on footy not so long since.
By:
Indeed you could RH.
By:
I could be mistaking Fru T Bun for a real old timer, Sica Dan, who has hust posted on my Corry thread.
By:
yeah , I havn't seen his name pop up for years, lots of real eccentrics and provocative people gone missing (they did generate feisty conversation) maybe the place just got over-policed and lost its bite
By:
Foinavon's always a delight to see on the rare occasions he drops by.

Hard to put a solid reason on the demise of a once bustling and alive forum ( once like a '70s smokey betting shop on a saturday in here it was) could be above reason..or everyone could have done their conkers and become disenchanted

This is the only internet forum I have read or posted on. In the beginning it had a unique charm. There were many interesting and lively debates/anecdotes/surreal stories. It has lost its appeal for me but I dont know whether that is because I now find it a bit old hat or if it really is a bit old hat.It has changed or I have changed or the people that were interesting have drifted away.Whatever the reason logging on to it now is almost a chore. Its boring.

Sums it up for me, Dobbo.

As a 2003 May arrival ( Harry Cripps ) I think its a Law of Diminishing Returns.
Betfairs fecking meddling recently and only 40 threads appearring mean that Guys are NOT going to trawl thru' previous pages if the Topic is not in front of them and as more disappear its less interesting for the remainder etc.. |
By:
A sort of user fatigue sets in I guess, you can only reply to so many what's your favourite door colour threads,I suppose lol,it might have just run its natural course, some times when surfing the net you come across an old forum like its a ghost ship..last reply to a thread 10.18 jun 28 2005 or something, they become eerily sad,a tumbleweed and chill north wind job
By:
Blimey, I thought you were trying to keep that secret Harry.
Congrats on your promotion. Richly desreved after several near misses. |
By:
I'd like to point out though its not just this forum losing its former glory, every forum is going through the same phase, you'd think horse racing because of its ever changing topicality, would retain its liveliness but it hasn't
By:
yeah it's gash. The recent forum downgrade has been the killer. Fair play to them for apologising, but they've not fixed the worse problems, and it's too late - if only they'd listened to the dismay with with which it was received.
I'm gonna keep posting, for the time being at least. |
By:
Well Sparks if you go, the game is deffo up lol,you are part of the bricks and mortar (provocative, eccentric and entertaining)
By:
their are no festering feuds or vicious spats on here anymore, have you noticed, lol
By:
I think you were involved in a lot of them

I remember pretty much all of those posters and this place has definitely changed a lot especially recently with the revamped forum having made a lot of regulars disappear, to its detriment I would add.
Steady was a great chap, I knew him well from the racing forum and he was a regular poster and extremely knowledgable about sports betting. He is a professional golfer who lived not that far from me when I lived in Hertfordshire, haven't seen him post for ages though. Gogoidle still posts every now and then. Clarky9 was on horse racing the other day. Cashless still posts, horse and greyhound racing usually. Clarky is Clarkson now, pops in occasionally but nowhere near as much as before, top banana. I remember Nashwan well, he was a prolific poster but has disappeared without trace. He posted the first ever thread in chit chat when the original rolling forum was departmentalised around 2001 ish I think, " What is your favourite toothpaste"? Find the rag was a good guy but was liable to lose the plot on occasions, pretty sure he got a lifetime ban. Paulbadpunter has been missing in action for years like most of the others. You have to think that losing money is the root cause of many disappearences, not many people actually win on here in the long term. I'm about £50K down myself over the years and quite a few people I know have put gambloc on their computers out of necessity. |

Paul TadHunter was instrumental in making me join the forum after reading about his 'Hunchcat of Notre Damme' on one of TGM's quizzes one night.
He was one of the best posters on here and does occasionally still post, but it's a rare occurrence now. He's very much missed. He was last seen on Superbowl night on one of Clarky's threads, which should still be on here somewhere. |

ROCKIN HORSE..somw,no prbs...I can either answer or I dont fire away m8
Sorry about that Old Chap, I was miles away...lol The question? I'll ask it as gently and subtlely and diplomatically as I can but what IS your favourite door colour ? p.s. I hope you don't think I'm being too intrusive or prying M8.. |

Spirit of My Weigh
Well I always liked a bright summer yellow colour, but I read a psychiatrists (honestly no word of a lie) view on the choice of peoples door colours and yellow er..was not good.. it suggested a unstable personality disorder (gulp!) Red was for people happy and sure of themselves, white for an uncomplicated straight talking person, green subdued and demure..now where's that paintbrush |
