Replies: 4890 31 Jan 10 15:02 interesting stat about murray - he has just joined an illustrious group of players with career 0-2 records in grand slam finals in the open era (1968-) John Marks Steve Denton Kevin Curren Miloslav Mecir Todd Martin Alex Corretja Cedric Pioline Mark Phillippousis Andy Murray No-one in the open era has ever played more than 2 grand slam finals, and not won at least one of them... So Murray will have the chamce to make history by becoming the first 0-3 player. |

By:
John Marks never reached 2 Grand Slam finals

...and I'm pretty sure Agassi lost his first 3 Grand Slam finals before winning Wimbledon...
|

and Soderling also has a 0-2 record in finals...shall I carry on

Murray on the verge of british sporting greatness is a far more positive view of things
Anyway to reach 3 grand slam finals is a fantastic effort and deserves alot of credit |

Indeed
|
|

Agassi did lose his first 3 finals. I noticed after I'd posted that CB said that. As Agassi is no longer a member of the 0-x club, Murray can still find himself in a very exclusive club.

Are we on the verge of something historic?
My first post on this thread BTW. |

Surely we can't be counting this open. W/O beating Federer/Nadal it will be the hollowest of
slam wins. Eastern can you tell me if Murray is in his own club of 2 slam finals and ZERO sets won? NIL |

Good grief! what chance has he got, even if he wins its because Fed and Nadal werent in the final, some very bitter people in this thread. ' Sica, my post was an ironic one as the Bairn earlier on tried to poo-poo John Lloyd's achievement in reaching the OZ open final in 77. Still, it has to be said the draw has been kind ZERO |
|
By:
Fair enough but you cant blame Andy for the failings of others and he still has
a Serbian moutain to climb. ps Can we have a thread counting the days until an Englishman reaches a Grand Slam 1/4 final? |
|
By:
greened out on Andy has thebairn. Such faith in his fellow scotchman.

we sure can Sica! Do the honours and create it

Brodie, i bet the two of them at huge odds at the start. just waiting for Andy to do the biz. today. lucky me. cheers. ho.

Can we have an up to date total please.
Thanks. |
|
By:
The count is NIL.
To go back to the Agassi issue this is correct he did lose 3 Slam finals (2 at the French and one at the US to Gomez, Sampras and Courier) before eventually winning all four slams. Maybe something our British/Scottish/Paraguayan hero can replicate? ![]() |
|
By:
Also for the sake of clarity I did just check the number of slam winners in the Murray family, and the answer to this is ONE (Jamie).

With all the activity on this thread today I thought the petulant ginger choker had won something....a quick check on the internet has however confirmed that the total is NIL
|
|
By:
It's still NIL
But I'm having a dabble on the SPOTY market, 2.88 is ridiculous on what is realistically an even money shot on him winning on Sunday, and even what happens at Wimbledon. |

By:
THIS IS GOING ON THE ENDANGERED THREADS LIST
|
|
By:
Nil. (Just wanted to get one more in, well, just in case the worst happens)
|
|
By:
Guys say he wins, people may still be posting 1 in 2015.
|
|
By:
Dont worry he loses ill be laying the sh1t out of him on sunday no matter what the price is

This thread's still got legs, no moves. Nil by the way.
|
|
By:
Why are people saying this could be the end of this thread?
It's merely an up to date count of grand slams won by Andy Murray, which as it stands is currently nil. |
|
By:
I might lose interest if I am honest. However, the current total is:
0 |

By:
1 less than 1 i beiieve
