no English player has ever won a slam, no English player has even got to a final of a slam, there was no such thing as a slam when Perry won a tournament 70 odd years ago. it was like England winning the World series of Ashes tournament, only 2 competitors, hope this helps. cheers. he he ho ho he.

That's incorrect Bairn. Viginia Wade won three grand slam events.

|
By:
a few women won grand slams. sue barker, ann hobbs?, sure there's others.

Take no notice of the Bairn. He has already been told that John LLoyd reached the OZ final in 1977.
He seems to have a selective memory, lol NIL |

Even if the Scotch choker scrapes through the semi, he's up against a bloke who just destroyed Federer with ease.
I think this thread is safe for a while longer. |

When John Lloyd won the Australian Open in the 1970's wikipedia stated none of the top 20 players in the world were present. In that period it was a second rate tournament limited to poor players like John Lloyd it certainly wasn't thought of as a major championship.
You wait when he wins on Sunday, Murray, will be acclaimed as Britain's first male winner of a grand slam in 70 years by the BBC. |
|
By:
Lloyd didn't win anyway he only came second in 1977 and as I have already stated it was a very poorly represented competition in the 1970's.

no English player has ever won a slam, no English player has even got to a final of a slam, I was replying to this ^^^. J lloyd got to the final of an Open. It really is that simple. |

Yes they will because that will be factually correct Again, simple. |
