The committee responsible for use of Deep Blue II have concluded that for the interim at least, the threat posed by black holes in our galaxy outweighs the threat of Murray winning a Grand Slam, and accordingly my slot to carry out proper research into his tally of Slams has been re-scheduled for 2nd November.  I know its frustrating, but we shall all have to wait I am afraid for the definitive answer.

Bitter bunch of feckers, ignored by the world that has passed them by, their wee hands like lobster claws seizing up in envy as they think about Andy Muzza and all his DOSH.

Sitting at their PCs, dribbling on the floor, dreading the moment their lungs and hard drives seize up effectively bringing their pointless existences to a thankful close.

Look at their wee lobster hands, shaking in envy. Useless tail chasing phukwits.

A sad state of affairs!

How's the reigning Valencia Open Champion getting on in this year's competition please?

and is it still NIL?

Right, Deep Blue has been on this for the last five days.  Its struggling.  The concept of zero creates a problem.  Let us begin with the following definition:

"A cardinal number indicating the absence of any or all units under consideration."

Mathematically, that is not determinative.  It is possible to say "no air" exists in a vacuum, but mathematically, some particles will always remain.  Or even the elements of such a particle with the potential to create one.  Not zero then, mathematically.

Put another way, whilst it is commonly argued that 1 cannot be divided by 0, it can when 0 is defined as 1 divided by infinity.

We were just getting going on with this, when Murray went out in the second round in Valencia, which confused things.  Last year, when Andy won it, we were told it was a Very Important Tournament.  So we had to check out whether this could constitute a potential Slam, or part thereof, rendering the concept of zero unavailable.

I made a cup of tea; the computer thought.

"What about doubles?"  It asked.  "That was his brother", I replied.
"Juniors?".  "Don't count".

It thought a bit more.

And then, came up with this.  The lad Murray has been most helpful, despite confusing the minds of mathematicians since Euclid as to the precise definition of zero, we could put the cart before the horse.

Rather than rely on the concept of zero, with all its inaccuracy and wiggle room, perhaps we could introduce a new unit called a "Murray".  That would dispel all doubt.

Chuffed, the computer went on to identify several black holes before dinner time.
