A pedigree can also provide a pointer, and, along with most American-breds, keep an eye out for the progeny of Captain Rio and Invincible Spirit, two sires with a notable fibresand record.
Gower Sophia and Caol La in the 1-50 by these sires. We shall see. :) |
|
By:
Caol La 3.22 for place before the off, traded as low as 1.5 ir.
Gower Sophia 4.6 for a place before the off, traded as low as 1.51 ir I had a small place bet on GS - went to lay it back at 2.0 and my facking screen froze. (Internet Explorer) :( My Mozilla screen was on a different race. :( |

been busy catching up on a few things now the snow is melting.
Updated 10.11 Boogie Waltzer will be a strong favourite in the 5f handicap at Southwell today (1.50). She might well win easily, as shes a progressive sprinter from a yard whose horses often run up a sequence once finding their form, but Im happy enough to take on a filly trading at around 6-4 under a penalty on her first start on Fibresand, and the one I want to oppose her with is TURF TIME. He has seemed pretty useless on turf to date, but he didnt run badly on his racecourse debut here, staying on steadily up the rail (not the place to be at the time), and he then ran quite an eyecatching race returned to this surface last time, travelling noticeably strongly during the early part of the race |

Thanks, Big Charlie, for the article on AW tracks. I do not usually bet a lot on the AW, so this weather has forced me to learn about it.

How stupid can you get. :(
I DID IT AGAIN FFS !!!!! Put a bet on at 1.75 on Zuwaar in the 4-40 for a place. Listening to Timeform Radio, which is a few seconds in front of Betfair Live video, had a place lay in at 1.25 ready to submit. When I did it, the facking screen froze again. I was on IE by mistake (AGAIN) which freezes when I have live video on and try to bet. And what did I have on the Mozilla browser ? That facking bird doing the sand drawings :( ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH |

afternoon all :)
another busy morning but here's HT's tips ........... Updated 10.21, 10.48 WINNING SHOWs display at Kempton on Monday seemed to confirm that he is still some way ahead of the handicapper and he must surely go close again in the 1m4f handicap (2.40). He was unlucky to run into a winner who was landing a huge gamble on his return to Mark Johnston, the pair pulling some way clear of the in-form Starburst. He impressed with the way he travelled and then reeled in the leaders despite challenging closest to the far rail when winning a typically steadily-run affair here two outings ago, and although he gives the impression he would be suited by a more strongly-run race, he might be better equipped if the race does turn into a crawl than main market rival Calzaghe, although the latter still rates the main danger with the possibility of further improvement to come for the Best team now headgear is fitted for the first time since he joined the yard. Nonetheless, I dont think Winning Show should be bigger than 2-1 here given he runs off the same mark as on Monday. Lucy Wadham has had only 21 career runners on the Flat, but her four winners have included two at Listed level and she has also had two placed at Group Three level and another Listed-placed effort. In other words, she fits into the category of a National Hunt trainer whose Flat runners are likely to be overlooked on account of their rarity. Moreover, shes been in excellent form lately, her last four runners producing wide-margin winners at 10-1 and 33-1, a 25-1 runner-up and an 11-1 third, and Wadham explained in an interview on the channel yesterday that, based in Newmarket, she had had no problems keeping her horses fit during the recent cold snap. With that in mind, TOPFLIGHT WILDBIRD is a very interesting runner in the 0-55 1m2f handicap at Lingfield today (3.40). Shes returning to the Flat having not really taken to chasing this winter, though she went well enough for a long way last time to suggest that she wasnt completely out of form. This will be her first run on the Flat for Wadham, but she was competitive off marks in the mid-60s for Geraldine Rees a couple of years ago. Running off 46 here, with her stable in its current form, she looks worth a speculative punt. At Wolverhampton, BISHOPBRIGGS might be able to bely his form figures in the 4.50. He lost his way for his two previous stables, but gave the impression he was back in form on his first start for the Quinlans at Lingfield last month on his first start since May. He took on the pacey Truly Divineup front in a race run at a good gallop, and saw off that rival to lead on the home turn, still disputing second at the furlong pole, but faded from then on, not knocked about at all once headed. That was over 7f, and his best form is at shorter, so he has definite possibilities back over 6f. He won off 65 here in 2008 and was also beaten a short head off the same mark, so if his new stable has worked the oracle, he is well treated off 52 here. Hugh's Best Bets (scale 1-5 points): 2.40 LINGFIELD 3 pts win WINNING SHOW (5-2 WH) 3.40 LINGFIELD 2 pts win TOPFLIGHT WILDBIRD (10-1 Sky, S J) 4.50 WOLVERHAMPTON 1 pt win BISHOPBRIGGS (10-1 W H) winning show was the one I would have tipped last time it ran ......... but the thread had fallen off the list. |

Winning Show around 6-4 on here
although its trainer remains in good form it's there to be shot at by the others who could have readied one so I'm not playing at that price ( either back or lay) |

Morning :)
Ulster scored a pen with the last kick of the match to win by 8 last night (rugby) .............. I was heavily involved on the -7.5 h'c :D made up for my attempted trade on the Liverpool / Reading match the other night .... .... backed the correct score just before HT [ odds often get lower during the break ] ... went to make tea Liverpool scored with a deflection, I think with the last kick of the first half, and against the run of the play. Lucy Wadham interesting on ch 4 this morniing ........... married to a solicitor ......... she must move in pumphol's legal circles ! Any tips today ? :) |

Morning!
Had a text about 2 of lucy wadham's runners at the s'well bumper card earlier in the week. The first was 2nd of 7 at 25/1, the other was 3rd at 11/1 but her other runner that wasn't mentioned in my text won at 33/1. |
