and give them a short appraisal thanks to the glorious invention that is Youtube: (feel free to add input as you like)

1. HERE IN MY HEART by Al Martino

Crooner, poor mans Frank Sinatra. Not at all happy with this song, basically it bored me.

Not keen on this either. I don't recognise this tune and it just seems very depressing to me.

A little bit more lively than the previous two turgid (sp?) numbers but basically doris day sh.ite. Apologies if you like that stuff.

Good god this is awful, bring on the 60s. It is only January so far. This is quite simply an awful tune. Dad's Army should feel ashamed if it ever played this as back ground music. I'm sure it is only 3 years before Elvis pee and Chuck Berry get into action.

I think I've heard of this guy. quite a jovial song, but at the same time barely above the level of a school playing ground rhyming song.

Still only april 1953 ffs. Well at least I have heard of this song, well hasn't everyone. Still holds the record for the longest time at no.1 so I am lead to believe. Geddit. I just said "believe" when talking about..;; o h fk it. a decent song all the same, anyway it has finished now so onwards and upwards.

Dan: my intention is to post a link for every song, but I have forgotten a few times already. Got to admit i have heard enough early 50s music already.

Woke up with a raging thirst and couldnt get back to sleep, so I thought I will give you some moral support Wisty for your epic and very laudable adventure.

Pity you couldnt find "Hey Joe" by Frank Ifield. The bit where he plays the guitar with his teeth is legend!

a famous song, and one of the most famous singers of all time. I still don't like this song though. pretty unamazing imo. I thought pre rocknroll 50s music was all about mad dogs and englishmen going out in the mid day sun (i liked that song) i haven't liked any song so far pretty much.
