magic flea....
off the beeb website...

0.1-0.35% fatality rate = 18,300-64,050

Like I said I wasnt sure what the % rate was, and my guess was wide of the mark of what was said, but you now see where the 65k came from
hope this helps
By:
The Magic Flea
When: 23 Jul 09 13:40
is a bit less than the 10% you previously mentioned
By:
dustybin
When: 23 Jul 09 13:44
like i said I was guessing at the % but that doesnt deter from the fact that they said 65k
By:
The Magic Flea
When: 23 Jul 09 13:57
65k was never in dispute apart from being the higher estimate and the one the media was concentrating on compared to the 19k lower estimate. the 10% was what I disputed

If 1,000,000 brits die I might think about buying some funeral apparel.... maybe a motor for transporting coffins or something like that...

If 1,000,000 brits die they would be burning the bodies in furnaces at the hospital

Cath as far as i can see (though in stand corrected) there are 2 practicing legal eagles on this thread (in fact this page) and though i dont generally agree with them politically they seem spot on in there deduction of the facts surrounding this whole swine flu hysteria.

If you believed the govt and bbc last night 2600 people a second hit the swine flu website so are we really to belive that between 11 and 12 milion people in 1 day hit that site? what a load of old pony.

Also every and i mean EVERY case of flu symptoms reported to GP's upto last week HAD to be logged as "swine flu possibles" each surgery then gave a guesstimate figure to their Local Health trust then onto the regional trust and were then collated nationally.

I'll tell you whats happned in 2 v large NHS trusts, about 15 % of staff ahve been off with "possible swine flu" then returned 4 days later rather embarrassed that "it was just a cold" ive no doubt this scenario will be multiplied ad infinitum accross the uk.

It's not even in the same stratosphere for deaths as any regular flu outbreak and appears to be nothing more than a self fullfilling media/govt wet dream.

Sure if millions die then millions die but hysterical pant soakers like Cath are about as welcome in these things as a turd in a christening font.

100 000 cases in 1 week (alledgedly from those that like to inflate the figures) and only 30 deaths.
So why the hysteria?

Just for the purposes of clarification, if TFBD is referring to me, I am not in practise; although I am a barrister of considerable expertise, talent and frankly, good looks.

I reserve the right to have been 'over-egging' some, or all, of that pudding :)
